Renaissance Austin Begins Multi-Million Dollar Renovation

Completion Set for September 2006

. October 14, 2008

AUSTIN, TX, July 3, 2006. Guests at the Renaissance Austin Hotel will soon enjoy a new level of luxury surroundings with renovations planned as part of the hotel's multi-million dollar renovation this summer. Renaissance Austin's General Manager Rob Gillette stated that the changes will lend to a more luxurious atmosphere for the 10-story atrium hotel, and added comfort for guests. All renovations will be completed by September 2006 with a re-launch of the hotel scheduled at that time. The hotel will remain fully-operational during the renovation process.

The first phase of changes began and was completed in May 2006 with all 492 guest rooms receiving a completely new bedding package along with new pillow-top mattresses. The hotel's former traditional bedspreads are now gone and soft down comforters are in - nestled inside plush, new duvet covers which are always freshly laundered for each new guest. The bedding linen package features 300-thread count, cotton-rich, white top and fitted bottom sheets, providing guests with a new comfort experience. The new package also offers thicker, more comfortable pillow-top mattresses and piles of pillows. The stylized bedding will be accented with Euro square pillow shams and a decorative bed scarf.

The final phase is planned for this summer and includes the creation of a new upscale internet caf'e; renovation and addition of new space and equipment to the fitness center; and the complete rework of the 30,000 square foot exhibit hall. Gillette commented, "with the new d'ecor and enhancements planned, we will be providing our guests a more luxurious, and at the same time, functional and stylish environment that will serve the needs for business and leisure travelers alike." Guests will be able to enjoy all the new amenities by the end of September 2006.

The hotel is getting more high-tech with a terrific new eating and conversational work space. The current deli onsite is being transformed into this new internet caf'e. The caf'e will offer a variety of foods and beverages during the day to include Starbucks coffee, gourmet coffees and specialty wines and beer, to fresh-baked pastries in the mornings, fresh pizzas and hot or cold sandwiches for lunch, to select cheeses, snacks and gourmet desserts in the evenings. Since travelers need to be connected to high-tech gadgets these days, the cyber caf'e will offer a relaxed environment with an "eat.drink.connect." methodology. Wireless service will be available for guests in an open "great room" atmosphere with computers set up in workstations with a private, yet relaxed environment. Guests can also work, browse the internet, or check emails from their own laptops at the various tables provided in the caf'e.

Changes for the fitness center include an increase in size with new paint, carpet, and lighting scheduled. New state-of-the-art equipment and an increased number of fitness machines will also be added, to include individual television panels. The hot tub area will be refurbished as well.

The expansive 30,000 square foot exhibit hall will be totally revamped in new colors of vibrant burgundy, rust and gold - while adding new lighting, carpet, and wall vinyl. A divider wall will also be added so that the hall can also be divided into two separate sections. Additional enhancements to include fixtures in restrooms will be redone with new paint, tile and lighting.

The hotel completed renovations of the lobby area, restaurant, ballroom, guest rooms, meeting rooms, Club Level and Presidential Suite over the past two years. The restaurant, Banderas - A Texas Bistrot, serves three meals daily featuring a Texas-style Hill Country cuisine. Wireless internet service is also available in the public areas and meeting rooms of the hotel, to include wireless service in all guest rooms beginning September 2006. As a recipient of several awards and ratings over the past years, including the prestigious Gold Key Award by Meetings and Conventions magazine, and the International Special Events Society (ISES) Austin Chapter Host of the Year, the Renaissance Austin Hotel strives to provide outstanding accommodations and Savvy Service to its guests.

The Renaissance Austin Hotel is a beautiful property with 492 luxurious guest rooms located just 11 miles or fifteen minutes from downtown, nestled in the scenic hills of northwest Austin and connection to the Hill Country. The property is the cornerstone to the upscale entertainment complex, the Arboretum, a 95-acre park-like setting filled with over 80 shops, boutiques, restaurants, movie theaters, walking and jogging paths. With 60,000 square feet of function space, including the 30,000 square foot exhibit hall, the hotel is an attractive destination for both business and leisure travelers.
