Benchmark Appoints John Shea Director of Food & Beverage

HOUSTON, TX, July 6, 2006. Benchmark Hospitality International has announced the appointment of John Shea as director of food & beverage for Lansdowne Resort, a luxurious 305-guestroom property located in Leesburg, Virginia, near Washington, DC. Tom Manno, managing director, made the announcement.
"John Shea brings a lifetime of experience with him to Benchmark, having worked at some of the finest operations in the world," said Mr. Manno. "We look forward to his expertise and dedication as we continue to reposition Lansdowne and expand our extensive food and beverage operations."
A distinguished hotelier, John Shea was most recently food & beverage director for the Boca Raton Resort & Club, a signature property located in Boca Raton, Florida. For over a decade prior to this, Shea demonstrated his entrepreneurial and culinary talents by designing, operating and owning "Dudley's Restaurant" of Lexington, Kentucky. The restaurant has been rated a "Top 500 " dining establishment within the United States.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Shea opened the Grand Hyatt Hotel, located at Grand Central Station in New York City. During the 1990s, he served as the restaurant manager for Windows on the World, the renowned restaurant previously located on the 107th floor of One World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, New York.
John Shea is a native of Brooklyn, New York. He is a graduate of Hofstra University, located in Hempstead, New York, with a degree in Abnormal Child Psychology. Shea is an avid golfer and lover of fine food and wine. He and his wife are relocating to Virginia.
