David Feder Named President and GM of the Fontainebleau
MIAMI BEACH, FL, July 10, 2006. David Feder, a distinguished 30-year veteran of hotel and resort management, has been appointed President and General Manager of the renowned Fontainebleau Resort in Miami Beach. He succeeds Michael Starr, who will assume the position of General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Fontainebleau Resort in Las Vegas, a 4,000-room hotel and casino planned for the Las Vegas Strip in 2009.
In his new position, Feder will head operations for the 37-story Fontainebleau Suites, which opened last year on the south end of the famed resort property. He also will oversee the $400 million expansion and renovation of Fontainebleau Resort and then direct all aspects of the total hotel complex when it reopens in 2008. This transformation of the original Fontainebleau includes a master planned renovation of the entire hotel including guest rooms, meeting space and all public areas. The addition of marquee restaurants, late-night entertainment venues, upscale retail space, innovative poolscape and a world-class luxury spa are intended to create the most dynamic resort destination on the Eastern seaboard.
Previously, Feder was president of PGA National Resort & Club, where he oversaw the 389-room resort and private members' club, including all operations, marketing and future development. Prior, he served as president and chief operating officer of Boca Resorts, Inc., where he led the company's unique collection of properties, including its flagship Boca Raton Resort & Club. Feder also was senior vice president and managing director of the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa and served in various operations and marketing positions at The Breakers in Palm Beach, the Innisbrook Resort in Tampa, Fla., Princess Hotels International, the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco and The Plaza in New York.
"David's vision and expertise are exactly suited to the remarkable entertainment destination the Fontainebleau Resort is destined to become," said Glenn Schaeffer, the president and chief executive officer of Fontainebleau Resorts, Inc. "His track record of excellent results in this marketplace will carry forward with our new brand."
Feder is a member of the Board of Trustees of Florida Atlantic University, a Foundation Board Member at Boca Raton Community Hospital and member of the Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council. He is the recipient of the Gulf Stream Council Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen Award, The Palm Beach International Film Festival Founder's Award and the LEAH Bridge Builders Award.
The oceanfront Fontainebleau Suites currently offers studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites featuring modern luxury amenities as well as superior views of the Atlantic Ocean, Intracoastal Waterway, Biscayne Bay and downtown Miami. This first phase of the master renovation is already re-defining the beauty and elegance of Miami Beach's most prominent hotel.
