Sage Hospitality Names GM for Renaissance Providence
Hospitality Veteran Angelo De Peri Tapped as General Manager for Showcase Renovation of historic Mas
Providence, RI, July 17, 2006. Sage Hospitality Resources, the Denver, Co -based hospitality company that is renovating the historic Masonic Temple into the Renaissance Providence Hotel and will manage the property, has appointed Angelo De Peri as the general manager.
Mike Murray, senior vice president of operations at Sage Hospitality Resources, described Mr. De Peri, whose distinguished career in the hospitality industry spans over 25 years, as uniquely positioned to lead the Renaissance Providence Hotel and to establish the hotel as a benchmark of excellence in luxury and service.
"Mr. De Peri brings an exciting depth and outstanding track record in the hospitality industry to the table, combined with a singular understanding of Providence's emergence as a premier travel destination," said Mr. Murray. The $87 million transformation of the Masonic Temple- an endangered national landmark that was abandoned and never completed on the eve of the Depression in 1929 -is the most ambitious historic preservation project in the history of Rhode Island. Located directly across from the Rhode Island State House in the heart of Capitol Hill district, the Renaissance Providence Hotel will feature 272 guest-rooms, and 10,000 square feet of state -of-the art meeting and pre-function space.
In his position as general manager, Mr. De Peri will provide leadership for the opening and on-going operations of the Renaissance Providence Hotel. Most recently, Mr. De Peri was the general manager for the Providence Westin Hotel. In addition, he has held executive posts at a who's who of hotels including the Renaissance Times Square Hotel, Marriott Philadelphia Convention Center, New York Marriott Marquis, Marriott New York Financial Center and the Marriott New York Brooklyn Hotel and the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel.
A graduate of the University of the State of New York- Albany, Mr. De Peri has earned numerous industry and professional awards. Mr. De Peri also attended the Culinary Institute of America- Hyde Park, New York and is certified as an executive chef by the American Culinary Federation.
Among his key civic commitments is membership on the Providence/Warwick Convention and Visitor Bureau Board of Directors. Mr. De Peri and his wife Linda reside in East Greenwich, RI and have three daughters: Jennifer, Victoria and Alexandra.
