LONDON, UK, July 18, 2006. Great Hotels of the World is delighted to announce it has a new member hotel opening in north Wales. Located on the prestigious Deganwy Quay waterfront development overlooking the bay of Conwy, The Quay Hotel & Spa is due to open on 28th July 2006.

The luxurious five star property is on course to become one of the leading hotels in the region and will cater to both business and leisure travellers alike. The architecture is cool and sophisticated, while the large airy spaces and clever use of light give it an element of understated chic. The property will offer 74 beautifully appointed, contemporary rooms and suites, each of which will feature king-sized beds with Egyptian cotton sheets, luxury bathrooms, a 24-hour concierge and room service. Most rooms also have secluded deck balconies where guests can relax in private and enjoy the stunning panoramic views over the bay.

Contemporary fine dining is set to become a signature trademark of the hotel at the property's seafront restaurant, The Vue, offering uninterrupted views towards Conwy Castle. The `a la carte restaurant and bistro will be headed by top chef Stephen Duffy, who is the current North Wales Chef of the Year and a member of the Welsh Culinary Team. Signature dishes include: Tortellini of Scallop; Butter Poached Langoustines; Truffle Emulsion; Mustard and Apple Roasted Loin of Tandoori Monkfish; Courgette and Potato Gallette Pan Roasted Sea Bass; Lemon Curd Ice Cream; Celery Sorbet; and Pear and Armanac Tart.

The hotel's location at the estuary of the Conwy Valley enables it to offer guests a variety of leisure activities. The idyllic waterside location makes it a perfect coastal retreat away from the urban rush, while the nearby unspoiled landscape of rolling hills, ancient ruins, rugged cliffs and the estuary also offers plenty of outside space to explore. Activities include: pony trekking; fishing; mountain biking; climbing; dry skiing; sailing and other water sports and white water rafting. In addition, the area offers a variety of national trust properties to visit, picturesque towns and villages such as Llandudno, the Conwy Championship golf course, sandy beaches, art galleries and theatres.

The hotel also offers a fully equipped state-of-the-art spa. Offering eight treatment rooms, a Turkish Hammam, a Thai massage suite, steam and sauna rooms, a 15 metre aerobic pool and high tech gym, the facility will be run by a highly trained specialist team and use Elemis products. Packages available include the full day 'MOT' (lb125), which incorporates a tailored fitness workout in the morning, followed by a nutritious lunch and soothing muscle massage to finish. Other possibilities include the 'detoxifying spa tonic' (lb125) to boost metabolism and accelerate the elimination of toxins through a variety of exfoliating wraps and aromatherapy massages, the revitalising 'golfing tonic' (lb75) and the 'rose nurturing cocoon for the mother to be' (lb120).

For business guests, the hotel's conference facilities offer the most up-to-date audio visual and conferencing equipment, as well as a variety of stylish rooms catering to different sized groups. The air-conditioned rooms all feature fully adjustable lighting and sound systems, as well as wi-fi capability for high speed internet access. 24-hour and day delegate rates are available for lb145 per person and lb50 per person, respectively.

The hotel will also be licensed to hold civil and partnership wedding ceremonies and the team are available to help create a variety of wedding packages to ensure a special day for the couple and their guests.
