Four Marina del Rey Hotels Have New GMs
MARINA DEL REY, CA. July 21, 2006. Four new general managers, with a combined 86 years in the hotel business, have been appointed to take top positions at four of Marina del Rey's six hotels.
Robert Thomas has joined as new general manager of the Five Diamond, 304-room Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey Hotel. Thomas, an executive with Marriott for more than 19 years, has an extensive background in the hospitality industry. He has recently joined the hotel after spending more than two years as general manager of the Marina del Rey Marriott Hotel.
Murray Lowe is the new general manager of the 370-room Marina del Rey Marriott. Lowe brings 26 years of hospitality management experience to his present position. Previously, Lowe was the general manager of Fort Lauderdale Marina Marriott for six years in Florida, and worked in the food and beverage departments for both the Orlando World Center Marriott in Florida and the New York Marriott Marquis Time Square hotel.
Steve Sanchez has been welcomed to the 157-room Marina del Rey Hotel (now managed by Santa Barbara-based Pacifica Hotel Company) as the new general manager after working at several California hotels including the Best Western Blue Sea Lodge in San Diego, Shelter Pointe Hotel & Marina in San Diego, Mission Valley Resort in San Diego and Best Western Lighthouse Hotel in Pacifica. He has been actively involved in the hospitality business for ten years.
Pacifica Hotel Company has also appointed Mary Banzon, a 21-year hotelier, as general manager of Marina International Hotel & Bungalows. Banzon also holds the title of area manager of Best Western Jamaica Inn, Marina del Rey Holiday Inn Express, The Inn At Venice Beach and Marina International Hotel & Bungalows. She has also held management positions with Hacienda, Hilton and Crowne Plaza.
