New Food and Beverage Director Tapped for Riviera Resort & Spa in Palm Springs
PALM SPRINGS, CA, July 16, 2009 - Uwe Roehricht, a 25-year veteran of the hospitality industry, has been named the food and beverage director of Riviera Resort & Spa, the newly refurbished 1950s landmark situated in the heart of old Palm Springs.
In his new position, Roehricht will oversee all food and beverage operations for the 406-room resort, including the signature restaurant, Circa 59; three bar areas; pool and room service; and catering operations for more than 40,000 square feet of meetings facilities.
A native of Germany, Roehricht, has extensive food and beverage experience and training, both in the U.S. and around the world. Prior to joining Riviera, which is owned and operated by Noble House Hotels & Resorts, he was director of food and beverage for Luxury Hotels and Resort's 355-room Hilton property in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, where he emerged as an essential member of the executive committee and was promoted to acting general manager.
Roehricht embarked on his career stateside with The Ritz-Carlton, holding management positions at various properties, including The Ritz-Carlton Boston and The Ritz-Carlton Huntington in Pasadena. Additionally, he was a member of the opening team for The Ritz-Carlton Seoul and Kuala Lumpur.
He went on to work as food and beverage director and resident manager for several independent luxury hotels, among them: The Harbor Court Hotel and Tremont Suite Hotels in Baltimore, Maryland, and Hotel Kura Hulanda in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles. He also served as food and beverage director for The Madison, a luxury property in New York City.
In addition, he worked at several luxury hotels in Germany, England and Bermuda before attending the Kaethe Kollwitz Hotel Management School in Marburg, Germany. Roehricht also studied marketing management for food and beverage operations - a professional development program - at Cornell University.
Throughout his career, Roehricht has earned many awards for excellence in service and management, including the national Malcolm Baldridge Award for Quality. Under his direction, Baltimore's Harbor Court Hotel garnered Five-Star/Diamond status from the American Academy for Hospitality and Science for three consecutive years.
