Howard Dreitzer Named COO for Seminole Gaming
AUGUST 14, 2009 - Howard Dreitzer, who led the highly successful introduction of table games at three Seminole Casinos in Florida, has been named Chief Operating Officer for Seminole Gaming. His appointment was announced by Seminole Gaming CEO James F. Allen.
"Since joining the Seminole Tribe's gaming operation in early 2008, Howard Dreitzer has been invaluable in the launch of blackjack, baccarat and other table games at both Seminole Hard Rocks and the Seminole Casino Immokalee," said Allen, to whom Dreitzer reports. "I am confident that his future contributions to the Tribe's gaming operations will be even more significant."
In his new position, Dreitzer assumes overall responsibility for operations management of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos in Hollywood and Tampa, FL, as well as the Seminole Casinos in Coconut Creek, Hollywood, on the Immokalee Reservation near Naples, on the Brighton Reservation northwest of Lake Okeechobee and on the Big Cypress Reservation south of Lake Okeechobee.
Dreitzer had been Senior Vice President of Table Games for Seminole Gaming, a position he had held since March, 2008. He directed the 2008 introduction of blackjack, baccarat and other table games with the approval of the U.S. Department of the Interior, which validated the gaming compact signed by the Seminole Tribe and the State of Florida in 2007.
Career History
Prior to joining Seminole Gaming in March, 2008, Dreitzer was Senior Vice President and General Manager for the Conrad Jupiters Gold Coast gaming resort in Queensland, Australia. Dreitzer worked directly for Caesars Entertainment, which managed the resort, and he directed overall resort operations for Conrad Jupiters and Conrad Treasury. He previously was Vice President and General Manager and Vice President of Casino Operations of the Conrad International Treasury Casino & Hotel in Brisbane, Australia.
Dreitzer's previous work in the U.S. casino market included Harrah's Casino in New Orleans, LA, where he was Senior Vice President of Casino Operations and Chief Operating Officer for three years. He also served as Executive Vice President of gaming at the Atlantic City Showboat Hotel & Casino and Senior Vice President of Casino Operations for the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, NJ. In addition he previously held senior management positions with Golden Nugget (both AC and LV) as well as the Sands (AC).
Dreitzer was born in Miami Beach, FL. His education has included undergraduate studies at the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL; Miami Dade Junior College; the University of Las Vegas, Las Vegas, NV. He also attended Executive Development programs at Columbia University, New York, NY; Wharton Business College, Philadelphia, PA; Harvard University, Cambridge, MA; and Cornell University, Ithaca, NY.
