Sir Michael Kadoorie to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at HICAP

SINGAPORE - 9 September 2009 - Horwath HTL and Burba Hotel Network (BHN), co-hosts and organizers of the annual Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP), are pleased to announce that The Honourable Sir Michael Kadoorie, Chairman, The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited will be presented with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 20th annual HICAP, scheduled for 14-16 October 2009, at the InterContinental Hong Kong.

Sir Michael's family has been involved with The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited (HSH) since the 1890s, when Eleazar (Elly) Silas Kadoorie bought his first shares in The Hongkong Hotel. HSH is a holding company whose subsidiaries and its jointly controlled entity are engaged in the ownership and management of prestigious hotel, commercial, and residential properties in key destinations in Asia and the USA. The hotel portfolio of the Group includes: The Peninsula Hong Kong; The Peninsula New York; The Peninsula Chicago; The Peninsula Beverly Hills; The Peninsula Tokyo; The Peninsula Bangkok; The Peninsula Beijing; The Peninsula Manila; The Peninsula Shanghai (opening in late 2009). The property portfolio of the Group includes: The Repulse Bay Complex; The Peak Tower and The Peak Tramways; St. John's Building; The Landmark in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; and the Thai Country Club in Bangkok, Thailand.

Sir Michael is a director of Sir Elly Kadoorie and Sons Limited, a non-executive director of Hutchison Whampoa Limited, and holds a number of other directorships and, in addition, acts as a Trustee on a number of leading, local charitable institutions. Sir Michael was made a Knight Bachelor in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in June 2005 (United Kingdom), holds the Gold Bauhinia Star from the Hong Kong SAR, is an Officier de la Legion d'Honneur, a Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres, and Commandeur de L'Ordre de Leopold II. He holds an honorary LL.D. from the University of Hong Kong and an honorary Doctor of Science degree from The Imperial College, London.

The HICAP Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to a leader who has made a considerable difference in the hotel industry in the Asia Pacific region and in the world through positive actions and significant contributions. The last recipient of the Award was Stephen F. Bollenbach, Co-Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Hilton Hotels Corporation in 2007.
