Westin Resort, Aruba Names Richard Roy GM
PALM BEACH, Aruba, September 23, 2009 - The Westin Resort, Aruba is pleased to announce the promotion of Richard Roy to general manager. Roy, a seasoned hospitality executive with a background spanning over 25 years, served as hotel manager for the resort since 2007, and as acting general manager for the past nine months. Now, in his new official role, Roy will oversee daily operations, from sales and marketing performance to guest services and more.
"Richard played an integral role in transitioning the resort to the Westin flag as hotel manager," said Graeme Davis, Vice President Operations, Southern and Caribbean region. "He has made tremendous contributions to the recent renovations and new programs that have elevated the resort's experience over the past two years, and we look forward to his continued successes as our new GM."
Before joining the 481-room Westin Resort, Aruba, Roy served as hotel manager at The Westin La Cantera Resort in San Antonio, Texas, and director of operations at The Westin Buckhead Atlanta. Roy began his nearly 10-year career with Starwood Hotels & Resorts as director of operations and director of food and beverage at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. Also in Nashville, Roy held positions with Ruth's Chris Steak House, and spent over fifteen years with Gaylord Entertainment.
Roy, a member of the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association (AHATA), is a Certified Food and Beverage Executive (CFBE) and a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America.
