Spectrum Design Services Completes Renovation of Cleveland Airport Marriott

. December 03, 2009

December 2, 2009 - Spectrum Design Services is proud to announce the completion of the interior renovation of the Cleveland Airport Marriott, which is owned by Thomas Point Ventures LP, a real estate investment firm that owns 16 Marriott and Renaissance hotels, including the Cleveland property.

Unveiled September 2009, this multi-million dollar renovation touched all areas of the hotel's interior including all 372 guest rooms and suites, concierge lounge, 16,000 square feet of meeting space, a new open floor plan lobby, and a new restaurant and bar design, concept. A rich, vibrant color scheme and sophisticated design can be seen in every piece of furniture and fixture with luxurious finishes and fabrics throughout.

Spectrum Design established the new standard in design for Marriott's Lobby Reinvented program for this client making the Cleveland Airport Marriott a flagship, trendsetting property. “We were very impressed by Spectrum's ability to work with all project team members in order to get the project through the design process,” said Jerry Cooper, Vice President Architecture & Construction, Thomas Point Ventures. “One key area of success was their workings through the Marriott design process. The review process was extremely complex and required a lot of attention from the design team. Spectrum's ability to work through this with Marriott design and purchasing departments was second to none.”

The hotel's 16,000 SF of meeting space has also been transformed. All meeting spaces and pre-function areas were fully renovated, dressed in a vibrant, contemporary patterned Ax Minster carpet, custom screen printed wall covering, and chandeliers featuring amber colored drum shades. Perhaps one of the most dramatic changes occurred in the Tower Club, where the design team removed dated, dark wood millwork that surrounded the room, as well as an expansive bar and raised seating platform, to create a warm, open room which maximizes seating capacity.

Spectrum's modern upscale design for this hotel showcases a vibrant new style that is both timeless and fresh. The new lobby transformation is a piece of artwork in itself. Its grand, open space and trendy "zones" are especially designed with the social and business traveler in mind. The existing restaurant and lounge have been opened up to the lobby space, and Marriott's new Lobby concept, the “Lobby Re-Invented,” was implemented. This new lobby concept supports the 24/7 work patterns of business travelers today, who smoothly transition between work, relaxation, socializing and play throughout the day.

Guests can also dine, work, or just relax in the newly renovated restaurant and lounge called, Amp 150, suitably named for its' location in this Rock Hall city! The restaurant and lounge features rich wood floors, warm contemporary lighting, and a variety of seating options such as the amber back-lit communal table, and custom round high back booths partially enclosed by beaded “drapes”. Spectrum's design team customized the back bar to allow for maximum flexibility. It is easily transformed from ruby resin panels, visible during the morning latte rush, to spirits on display for the evening cocktail hour. This is done by simply rotating the lockable back bar panels 180 degrees to reveal the desired effect. Amp 150's new Private Dining Room features built-in wine walls flanking the entrance, which can be seen from the restaurant or the PDR. In addition the team added flat screen televisions for presentations, a soffited ceiling detail, and filled in the wall between the bar and the PDR, punching alcoves in it which feature eggplant colored glass beaded wall covering and light sconces to simulate lit candles.
