Innisfree Hotels Named Top 100 Owner/Developer

List ranks owners based on number of rooms owned in the previous year; discusses changes to the industry in response to economic downturn

PENSACOLA, FL, - (February 09, 2010) — Innisfree Hotels was recently chosen as one of the Top 100 Owners & Developers by Hotel Business magazine. The annual ranking rated companies based on the number of rooms they owned at the year end of 2008. Innisfree was rated 89th, with five hotels and 701 rooms in their portfolio as of 2008.

Despite the tight economy, Innisfree has continued to develop new hotels in the southeast United States. Innisfree began construction of a 206-room Holiday Inn on Pensacola Beach in September and broke ground on a new Hampton Inn and Suites in Orange Beach, Ala., in November. Additionally, Innisfree Hotels, in conjunction with Innisfree Development, was recently selected to develop and operate a hotel and multi-use development on property owned by Eglin Air Force Base. Innisfree was also selected to develop a multi-use property at the Pensacola Regional Airport which will include a Hyatt Place hotel. Innisfree Hotels founder Julian MacQueen attributes this continued success to the group's professional development team and aggressive management tactics. “Our aggressive revenue management, paired with our emphasis on efficiency, productivity and excellence in service, has allowed us to continue our pattern of growth during a time when much of our competition is unable to do so,” MacQueen said.

The hotel industry has seen dramatic changes over the past year. In the September 7th issue of Hotel Business magazine, editor Dennis Nessler speculated that the list will be significantly different in 2010. Nessler wrote, “More and more owners are turning the keys to their hotels over to lenders...This trend, coupled with the virtual halt of any new construction, figures to pare the portfolios of owners significantly.”
