Shore Lodge and Whitetail Club Kakes Two Appointments
Dan Scott Appointed GM and Craig Davis as F&B Director for
MCCALL, Idaho - (March 22, 2010) - The owners of Shore Lodge and Whitetail Club in McCall, Idaho, today announced they've selected a new general manager and a new food and beverage director. In addition, they've retained a new sales and marketing partner for Whitetail Club's real estate development business.
"We've been examining all aspects of our operations ever since we purchased the properties back in August 2008 with the singular focus on creating world-class guest and member experiences," majority partner Joe Scott says. "We've made significant enhancements to product, service delivery, staff, facilities, and a number of other areas, and that improvement process continues today with the selection of Dan Scott as general manager for Shore Lodge and Whitetail Club."
Dan's responsibilities will include oversight of all Shore Lodge and Whitetail Club operations, as well as Whitetail's real estate development entity. He succeeds Judith Redd, who managed the properties over the last year and will continue to work with the owners as a consultant on the management transition, the search for a new Whitetail Club manager, and other special projects.
The new general manager and his wife, Laura, are longtime McCall residents, plus Dan is most recently owner, president, and CEO of McCall Aviation. He has been heavily involved in growing the travel and tourism industry in Central Idaho through his work with the State of Idaho and local and regional organizations. In addition, he is a director of the McCall Donnelly Education Foundation and is a member of the McCall Airport Advisory Committee.
Dan brings with him a great deal of other relevant experience, too. "His operations and management experience is second to none and is ideal for facing the challenges and complexity of successfully managing Shore Lodge and Whitetail Club," Joe says. "Prior to founding McCall Aviation Dan was vice president of Asia Pacific operations for Viewlocity, and he was the director of international strategic planning and business development for Starbucks."
At Starbucks Dan set the company's strategy for international brand development, including brand positioning, production and distribution, sales and marketing, and more. He also managed the development of the coffee Goliath's strategic plan for entry into continental Europe and was part of the team responsible for the company's aggressive retail expansion in international markets -- from 49 stores in 5 countries to 188 stores in 11 countries throughout Asia, the Middle East, and the United Kingdom.
Prior to his tenure at Starbucks, Dan was a senior manager for consumer and packaged goods with Andersen Consulting. Now called Accenture, the company is one of the leading management consulting firms worldwide.
"With Dan's depth of experience in operations, supply chain management, and creating first-class guest experiences plus his roots in McCall, the partnership is confident he is the best possible choice for this role," Joe says. "As he assumes this new role on May 1st, Dan will have stepped down as president and CEO of McCall Aviation, allowing him to focus on creating the world-class experiences that Shore Lodge guests and Whitetail Club members deserve."
Shore Lodge and Whitetail Club have also announced the addition of Craig Davis as food and beverage director. Most recently Davis worked as executive chef and director of food and beverage at Zermatt Resort, a 400-room property in Midway, Utah, with a 50,000-square-feet banquet center, three distinct food-and-beverage outlets, and a full-line bakery. His prior posts also include director of food and beverage and executive chef at Hotel Park City in Park City, Utah, and The Wort Hotel in Jackson Hole, Wyo.
Whitetail Club's owners also announced they have retained DMB Realty Network as the sales and marketing partner for the real estate component of Whitetail. According to Joe, DMB will be the "boots on the ground" for the real estate sales and marketing operation and will handle strategy, sales, and everything in between.
