. April 21, 2010

April 20, 2010 - The Balboa Bay Club & Resort (BBC&R) is pleased to announce the appointment of Danielle Staffieri as the new Director of Catering & Conference Services. Danielle joins the Sales & Catering Team with 17 years experience in the food & beverage and hospitality industries. Prior to joining BBC&R, Danielle was Senior Catering Manager at the luxury resort St. Regis located in Monarch Beach, CA. There she was responsible for all specialty high-end catering events - layering hotel experience into her portfolio of previous catering expertise.

“We are very pleased to have Danielle on-board. Her creativity, expertise, and flair with our clients and guests are generating strong working relationships. In catering and conference services, Danielle wears many different hats—often all at the same time! She partners with her team to ensure success of each meeting and social event. Danielle knows how to bring to life a client's dream of what their event will be, and her past experience with high-end restaurants, venues and luxury resorts is a perfect complement to our Clientele and this unique waterfront Resort.” said Terri Reid, executive director - sales & marketing.

Danielle was born to be an epicurean. She grew up cooking along side her parents and at the age of two Danielle's diet included sushi and sweetbreads - she has never looked back. In 1999 after returning from a year in Florence Italy, Danielle started working for the renowned Patina Restaurant Group, and worked directly for Joachim Splichal (a recipient of the prestigious James Beard Award for Chef of the Year).

She spent over 9 years with PRG as Director of Event Sales & Catering leading the sales efforts for over 14 various locations, including: the Orange County Performing Arts Center, Patina Restaurant at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown LA and Downtown Disney. Dealing with clients, selecting wine pairings and the creation of unique menus is definitely her forte. Prior to that, Danielle was a food and wine correspondent for GrapeRadio, and in September of 2008, one assignment sent her on a film project in Spain. There she worked on a documentary for the Sherry region and reporting on the Wines of Monastrelle.

Danielle graduated from San Francisco State University, with a BA in Speech & Intercultural Communications; with a Minor in Italian Film, Italian Language and Literature. Danielle also enjoys using her skills to give back. She is an active member in the following philanthropic organizations:

  • Event Director and Board of Directors for Share Our Wine Foundation's “Annual Wine Auction Orange County”, benefitting various children's organizations such as Orangewood Children's Foundation, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Canyon Acres, Child Guidance Center.
  • Supporter of Mission Hospital, United Cerebral Palsy, Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and many others
  • Long time supporter of the Orange County Performing Arts Center

Danielle stated early on in her tenure here at BBC&R, “I want to assist in the growth of BBC&R as a leader in the community, and being “the first choice” for those holding social events, meetings and conferences.” Danielle has taken her knowledge and creativity back to her hometown of Newport Beach, and to the legendary Balboa Bay Club & Resort.
