A Spa for the Entire Family at Adler Thermae in Tuscany

Are you tired of Disneyland for the family? Most people would not think of an Italian spa as an alternative. But, Adler Thermae in Tuscany, Italy is a wonderful surprise.

. April 30, 2010

TUSCANY, Italy - April 30, 2010 - Adler Thermae is an unusual and refreshing concept. The young Sanoner brothers, proprietors, who also own a very successful wellness resort of the same name in the Dolomites, have families themselves. They like to live and feel well, relax, and have their families with them. From this philosophy arose the concept of Alder Thermae. Cradled in the Tuscan Hills, it is a 90 room retreat. Its unique location offers sculpted pools of warm, healing, thermal waters for bathing, walks in exquisite Tuscan countryside, and an astoundingly well organized staff and programs.

There is something for everyone: morning yoga and fitness classes, country walks to the village of Bagno Vignoni, nearby cheese factory or vineyards. Bicycles are available for those who want to explore the hills at a faster pace. Excursions guided or on your own.

And then there is the spa…adults have over 130 treatments from which to choose. A consultation with the spa director or doctor and 4 to 7 days of pampering and relaxing are tailor made. At any time young and slightly older can sink into the soothing mineral waters overlooking the valley.

While parents are in the saunas or having a massage the kids are off on their own. You will find them in the AKI Club located in a separate wing of the hotel…a children's indoor paradise with arts, crafts, videos and friends to be made. Two teachers, both with child psychology degrees organize a daily schedule for 4 to 12 year olds that include swimming, treasure hunting water fun, excursions by bus or walking, putting on plays. The children's wellness program includes Yoga, psycho motion exercises for correct posture and emotional balance, perception exercises, and tasty and healthy menus. The club is open from 9:30AM-10PM Monday to Friday and 2PM-10PM on Saturday. And language does not seem to be a problem; the kids always find a way to communicate.

There is plenty to do for teens as well, a teen lounge with video games, hiking, mountain biking, excursions to local farms and vinieyards, special spa treatments, yoga classes and much more.

Dinners can be romantic or a family affair in the glass domed dining room (which opens in the summer). The chef, praised in Tuscany, prepares a delicious 4 course meal of regional dishes for those who are and are not watching their calories. Service is first class and wine list extensive.

The Family Junior Suite” for three and the Family Suite for four are spacious rooms with a sitting area, tea-table, sofa, writing desk and an armchair. The decor features rich wood furnishings, with warm-toned draperies. Rooms and suites have “Bio air-conditioning” (room temperature and dampness individually adjustable) and private terraces or balconies overlooking the scenic Orcia Valley. Marble bathroom feature a deep soaking tub and separate glass-enclosed shower, toilet and bidet in a separate room.
