Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino Expands Management Team
Four Key Staff Members Are Added to the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino, Including New Executive Chef
SAN JUAN, PR - May 4, 2010 - The Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino today announced new additions to the property's core staff: Director of Sales & Marketing Jeremy Marquard, Director of Group Sales Jeannette Aviles, Executive Chef Rocio Varela, and Banquet Sous Chef Elliot Rios.
Jeremy Marquard is Sheraton Puerto Rico's new director of sales & marketing, reporting directly to Randall Ha. Marquard comes from the Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa where he was director of sales & marketing for almost two years. Previously, Marquard worked with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide for six years, working on developing and executing marketing plans for properties such as the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa and the Sheraton & Westin Our Lucaya Resort complex in the Bahamas.
The hotel's new director of group sales, Jeannette Aviles, will oversee the day-to-day activities of the sales department. Prior to the Sheraton Puerto Rico, Aviles was director of group sales at the Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa. Additionally, Aviles also worked as the director of event bookings center at the San Juan Marriot Resort & Stellaris Casino.
On the Food and Beverage team, Chef Rocio Varela has taken on the role of executive chef. Most recently, Chef Varela acted as the executive chef at the W San Diego, and previously worked at a number of other hotels and restaurants across the U.S., including the Parker Meridien Hotel in Palm Springs, California. At this hotel, Chef Varela appeared on the Bravo reality Television show “Welcome to the Parker.” Originally from Puerto Rico, Chef Varela studied at Johnson & Whales in Providence, Rhode Island.
Sheraton Puerto Rico's new banquet sous chef is Elliot Rios, who worked at the Ritz Carlton San Juan for the last 13 years. Chef Rios graduated form the Culinary Institute of America at the University of Puerto Rico. Chef Rios will be working under executive chef Rocio Varela.
