Peter Kirschner Appointed GM of Shanghai JC Mandarin
May 24, 2010 - Meritus Hotels & Resorts (MHR), the hospitality division of Singapore Exchange-listed Overseas Union Enterprise (OUE), is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Kirschner as the new General Manager of Shanghai JC Mandarin.
Peter brings with him a wealth of hospitality experience having worked in places like South Africa, Zimbabwe, London, China and Malaysia, with international hotel chains that include InterContinental Hotels Group and Sun Hotels Group.
Prior to joining the Shanghai JC Mandarin, he was Executive Director/Director of Operations for the Malayan United Industries (MUI), a post he held for 17 years. MUI is an investment holdings company engaged in retailing, hotels, food and confectionery, financial services, properties, and travel and tourism. While with them, he was responsible for several hotels in Malaysia, Australia, and London.

An Austrian by birth, he graduated from the Lucerne Hotel School and commenced his career in the hospitality industry with prestigious hotels in South Africa. He regards his management style as one that is demanding yet supportive. Having garnered experience from dealing with a wide range of people from different cultural and religious backgrounds, he considers this to be an advantage from where he can borrow ideas to bring to Shanghai JC Mandarin and lead the team to greater heights.
