. August 26, 2010

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - August 24, 2010 - Kingsmill Resort recently announced the addition of Jovandra Cox, as Marketing Manager. Cox, a Virginia tourism industry advocate and Hampton Roads native, will oversee the marketing communications, through branding, promotions and advertising creative development for Kingsmill Resort.

Prior to her position with Kingsmill, Cox served as Director of Advertising for the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC), in Richmond, VA. During her time there, she led the state's Virginia is for Lovers®ad campaigns, media buying strategy, creative development, promotional partnerships and managed the advertisting agency team. Under Cox's leadership, effective cost-saving media initiatives for industry tourism partners throughout the state doubled and the state tourism office's broadcast advertising budget was restored to reach target markets outside of VA. In 2009, during the 40th anniversary of the Virginia is for Lovers slogan, she led the effort to induct the famous tourism slogan into the Madison Avenue Walk of Fame in New York.

Prior to her position with VTC, Cox began her professional career in an account services role at Stackig Advertising & Public Relations in Tyson's Corner, VA (later acquired by TMP Worldwide), where she served as an account executive on the Central Intelligence Agency and Discovery Communications accounts. Following that position, she joined the Washington, DC office of J. Walter Thompson where she served as a senior account executive on the MBNA, US State Department and Marriott accounts. “We are thrilled to have Jo join our team,” said Michael Garrow, vice president of sales and marketing for Kingsmill Resort. “Her wealth of experience and great enthusiasm for travel marketing will be valuable assets as we continue to promote Kingsmill in the marketplace.”

Passionate about travel and destination marketing, Cox is looking forward to contributing to the strategic positioning of Kingsmill Resort and delivering on parent company, Xanterra's mission of being the leader in park and resort hospitality.

Cox majored in Journalism & Advertising at Norfolk State University, where her first hospitality position was an internship with Walt Disney World Resorts' College Program in Orlando, FL.
