Chicago, IL - September 14, 2010 - OpenWays is pleased to announce that Aitor Agueda has joined the mobile-based access-management solutions company as Vice President of Research and Development. Agueda comes to OpenWays with 25 years of experience in hospitality and hotel security. He replaces Maurizio Zama who was promoted to OpenWays Chief Operating Officer.

Previously Agueda served as Director of Research and Development at TESA/Onity, and is considered to be one of the founding fathers of electronic-locking systems. Most recently, he served as Founder and CEO of Azkartek, an RFID and Near Field Communications based security system company. Agueda said it was the "significant technological leap of OpenWays, combined with a truly ubiquitous, interoperable and secured solution " that attracted him to the position.

"Innovation is a challenge, but it brings passion to people," Agueda said. "I came to OpenWays because it is innovative not only technologically, but from a guest-service and operations perspective. This solution is driving the future of the electronic locking industry -- and it's built by the industry's most experienced hospitality security professionals. I am very honored to be part of this team."

Pascal Metivier, OpenWays Founder and CEO, said he too is delighted that Agueda has joined the company. The two security veterans have had a long-standing working relationship in the electronic locks and security industries.

"I had the pleasure to work with Aitor years ago at TESA Entry Systems and at Onity," Metivier said. "His knowledge of access-control systems and his dedication to hospitality has made him a valued asset to our company and to all who adopt the OpenWays solution. Millions of hotel rooms in North America and billions of travelers have been secured by the electronic locks he developed.

"As OpenWays continues to unlock even more mobile benefits for the hospitality industry and travelers around the world, Aitor will be at the for front of our R&D strategy," he said. "We welcome him aboard.

"Finally, I am pleased to announce that Maurizio Zama has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer to lead our supply chain, quality control and operations," he said. "He has been instrumental in the launch of OpenWays from the very beginning. We congratulate him on this promotion."
