Gurney CEO Appointed to NY's Tourism Advisory Council

Paul Monte recently appointed by the New York governor to join the New York State Tourism Advisory Council.

November 5, 2010 - Paul Monte, General Manager & CEO of Gurney's Inn Resort & Spa in Montauk, has recently been appointed by the Governor of New York State, David A. Paterson to join the New York State Tourism Advisory Council.

The mission of the New York State Tourism Advisory Council is to enhance the state economy and the quality of life for all New Yorkers by expanding travel activity and increasing related revenues through tourism promotion and development. The New York State Tourism Advisory Council is comprised of 18 members appointed by the Governor for a term of at least two years. The Advisory Council includes representatives from recreational and tourist attractions, sports, lodging, restaurant, food and the transportation industries, as well as other tourism businesses and the general public.

Mr. Monte, who is a Director of the New York Sate Hospitality and Tourism Association since 2005 is also a Director of the Long Island Convention & Visitor's Bureau since 2006 and President of the Montauk Chamber of Commerce since 2003. While his advisory roles have been mostly in the field of hospitality and tourism, he has also been appointed as a member of the East Hampton Town, Budget and Finance Advisory Committee and the St. Therese Roman Catholic Church, Finance Committee.
