Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach Appoints R. Michael King GM

November 22, 2010 - The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach is happy to announce R. Michael King as the new General Manager for the five-star, five-diamond oceanfront resort. A 25-year industry veteran, King has spent nearly two decades with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company in various capacities. In addition, King complemented his vast hospitality acumen with a year long stint as the opening General Manager of the Waldorf Astoria Orlando this past year.

King brings a wealth of extensive Ritz-Carlton hospitality experience and strong leadership to Palm Beach and is responsible for managing all daily operations of the resort that also offers 20,000 square feet of meeting space, 42,000 square foot Eau Spa by Cornelia and the hotel's signature restaurants, Temple Orange and Breeze. A proven leader with solid management skills, King has received accolades for his role in achieving extraordinary employee and customer satisfaction ratings throughout.

Previous to the Waldorf Astoria Orlando, King served as the opening general manager for The Ritz-Carlton, Denver. Through his esteemed career, King has also served as general manager for The Ritz-Carlton, Cleveland; The Ritz-Carlton Huntington Hotel & Spa outside of Los Angeles; The Cloister at Sea Island, Ga. Fittingly, as the hotel approaches its 20th anniversary, Michael King's early career jump started at The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach as the resort's Food and Beverage Director in 1991.

King is a graduate of Kennesaw State University in Georgia and is a member of Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs, Chevalier du Taslevin and American Institute of Wine & Food, among others. A true foodie and wine enthusiast, King devotes time away from the office to his wife Dixie.
