LONDON. UK - January 11, 2011 - Maybourne Hotel Group, London's leading owner and operator of renowned luxury hotels Claridge's, The Connaught and The Berkeley, is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Kochs as General Manager of Claridge's, the iconic Mayfair landmark.

Kochs, who has worked in all three Maybourne properties since joining the company in 2001, most recently held the position of Hotel Manager at Claridge's. In this role he successfully oversaw projects such as the creation and launch of the Diane von Furstenberg rooms and suites as well as ending 2010 with the best financial results in the hotel's recent history.

From 2007 to 2009, Kochs held the title of Hotel Manager at The Connaught and played a key role in spearheading the successful re-launch of the prestigious hotel after its £70 million restoration programme. The service standards and initiatives he helped put in place, from the newly created Connaught Bar to the launch of Michelin-starred restaurant Helène Darroze, helped The Connaught re-establish its position as one of the foremost hotels in the world.

Kochs began his career in the company at The Berkeley as part of the banqueting team, becoming Head of Events and subsequently Food & Beverage Director of the hotel in 2005.

Commenting on the appointment, Stephen Alden, CEO of Maybourne Hotel Group, said: 'Thomas has proven himself to be an exceptionally talented hotelier, having gained valuable experience in all elements of the hotel industry. He is particularly well equipped to face the business challenges of 2011 and beyond with his strong sense of creativity, dynamic ability to motivate a team and build loyal relationships with guests. I am particularly proud that Thomas' career has been nurtured and developed within the hotels of Maybourne Hotel Group.'

Thomas Kochs comments: 'I am honoured to be appointed to this prestigious position in this legendary hotel which holds such affection from so many. Claridge's truly is synonymous with impeccable heritage, inherent glamour and contemporary thinking. We have built a team of talented professionals and we look forward to continuing to reinforce Claridge's' position as one of the greatest hotels in the world.'

Born in Germany, Kochs started his career in the hospitality industry 20 years ago at Steigenberger Hotel Group. He is a graduate of the Fachhochschule Munich where he holds an MBA Diplom-Betriebswirt (FH).
