GETTYS Announces Two Promotions on Senior Leadership Team
Duk J. Kim and Daniel C. Pierce Promoted on the Award-Winning Teams at GETTYS
February 3, 2011 - Global hospitality design, procurement, branding and development firm, GETTYS today announced the promotions of two of their esteemed team members. Duk J. Kim, AIA, LEED® AP , was promoted to Principal from Vice President while Daniel C. Pierce was promoted to Principal from Design Director.
Kim is a veteran of the design industry and the leader of GETTYS Chicago Design Studio. Kim joined GETTYS more than three years ago and his international expertise has led him to oversee project work including the new-build Resorts World-Manila in the Philippines, the Sheraton D3 - City Hotel in Seoul and a planned new-build environmentally sustainable development in Costa Rica. Prior to joining GETTYS, Kim contributed to major luxury residential and hospitality projects around the globe.

Conversant in Korean, Kim received a Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan. He's a licensed architect and has taught interior design classes at The Illinois Institute of Art, a CIDA accredited interior design college, for more than 10 years.
GETTYS continues to expand their executive team with the promotion of** Daniel Pierce** to Principal. Dan's first hospitality endeavor, a fortuitous opportunity to redefine hospitality along the Riviera Maya, was the Aqua hotel along the white sand beaches of Cancun. Today, his expertise in creating hotels and resorts around the world extends from North America to the Caribbean, the Middle East and Asia.
As a Principle in the Chicago office, Dan balances and directs all phases of interior architecture, design and strategic branding and innovation projects within his studio. Dan's recent project work includes the rebranding and conversion of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana; the contemporary new-build Shijiazhuang Retail Complex in China; the renovation of a luxury beachfront resort in Dubai and design innovation assignments for several global hospitality brands.

Fluent in Spanish, Dan studied architecture at the University of Arizona where he received a Bachelor of Architecture cum laude.
