David Arena Joins White Lodging as GM in Pennsylvania

February 16, 2011 - White Lodging has hired David Arena as the General Manager of the Courtyard by Marriott in Great Valley/Malvern, Pennsylvania. Prior to White Lodging assuming the management contract at this property in November 2010, Arena served as general manager under the hotel's former owners.

Originally from upstate New York, Arena has had a variety of careers including being on the opening team for a T.G.I. Friday's, serving as a crewman on the S.S. Dolphin, General Manager for a property in Aspen Colorado, Executive Butler, and he opened his own restaurant and a deli in the late 1980s.

In 2000, Arena entered the hotel hospitality industry, serving as Catering Director for the Wyndham Hotel in Wilmington, Delaware. His next move was to the Director of Sales position at the Holiday Inn in West Chester, Pennsylvania. After a year in this position, he was promoted to the property's General Manager. He continued his career path in several other industry capacities in and around southeastern Pennsylvania, landing in his position as General Manager of the Great Valley/Malvern property in 2008.

The 125-room Courtyard by Marriott Grand Valley/Malvern is located 27 miles northwest of Philadelphia. Nearby are the Great Valley Corporate Center as well as Valley Forge National Park and several areas for dining, shopping and entertainment.
