PLEASANTON, CA - March 2, 2011 - The Tri-Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) , a marketing organization dedicated to promoting a five-city region in San Francisco's East Bay, today announced that according to 2011 Smith Travel Research reports 2010 hotel occupancy for Tri-Valley Business Improvement District hotels was up 15.7% over 2009. Hotel revenue for 2010 was reported as $94.8 million, up 12.6% from 2009. Average Daily Rate has begun a recovery, down only 2.5% in 2010 compared to a decline of 16% in 2009.

“2010 was a rebound year for the Tri-Valley and we saw higher occupancy figures than we did over the previous two years. We readjusted our sales and marketing strategies and reached out to new markets, including the bridal and consumer travel market. We're hoping that the trend continues into 2011,” said Amy Blaschka, the CVB's President & CEO.

Although the region lacks a convention center, it is well known for hosting major consumer events such as the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association car shows, which generate over 4600 room nights annually.

On tap for 2011, the region will host the 2011 United States Bocce Championships , California Global Village, Amgen Tour of California, and Mogulaire Concours de Elegance, all of which will bring thousands of additional room nights to the region. The CVB also recently introduced a group incentive program that offers cash per booked room night for groups of 50 or more rooms.
