Fairmont Announces Personnel Appointments Across Its Portfolio

April 12, 2011 - Fairmont is pleased to announce several recent management and supervisory-level appointments at its properties worldwide. These include:

Matthew Smith , who heads to Dubai in the new role of vice president, human resources, Europe, Africa, Middle East & Asia Pacific. Smith has an extensive human resources and hospitality background having joined Fairmont in 1997. Since that time, he has held progressive positions throughout the Fairmont portfolio and in the company's corporate office. Peter Finnegan, who has been appointed corporate director, food & beverage, Europe, Africa, Middle East & Asia Pacific. With over 14 years of hospitality experience in five countries, Finnegan brings a vast background of knowledge to his new position. Most recently, he held the position of director, food & beverage, The Fairmont Royal York.

Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club has named Niall Cowan general manager. Cowan began with Fairmont as beverage manager for The Savoy, A Fairmont Managed Hotel and progressed within the company, with his most recent role being regional director, food & beverage, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia.

Wayne Kafcsak , who takes on the role of general manager, The Fairmont Royal Pavilion, Barbados. Kafcsak moves to the beautiful island of Barbados from his most recent role as general manager, Raffles Canouan Island.

The Fairmont Royal York, Toronto, has appointed Andrew Den Oudsten as hotel manager. Den Oudsten brings over a decade's worth of experience to his new role.

Henry Sirois , who has been appointed director of operations, Fairmont Zimbali Resort and Fairmont Zimbali Lodge, South Africa. Siroris is no stranger to Zimbali as he takes on his new role from his most recent position as resident manager, Fairmont Zimbali Lodge.

Mayah Alima , who takes on the role of director, human resources, Fairmont Pittsburgh. Alima joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in 2007 in her most recent position as director, human resources, The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and brings a strong knowledge of the recruitment field with her to Pittsburgh.

Karina Davies , who has been named director, sales & marketing, Fairmont Yangcheng Lake, China. Davies began her hospitality career nearly thirty years ago at The Fairmont Banff Springs and since then has held a series of progressive positions within the company. Most recently Davies held the position of director, sales & marketing, Fairmont Singapore and Swissotel The Stamford.

New to Fairmont is Emily Armstrong , who has been appointed regional director, public relations, Pacific Northwest. Based at The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Armstrong joins Fairmont from her most recent position as manager, travel media relations, Tourism Vancouver.

Nicole Ettenhofer , who has been named regional director, marketing programs and public relations, Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park. Ettenhofer is a native to the Chicago hospitality industry and most recently held the role of director, marketing programs and public relations for Swissotel Chicago.

Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, Abu Dhabi, is pleased to welcome David Stern as director, food & beverage. Stern's hospitality career has taken him around the globe where he has held numerous food & beverage positions with a number of luxury operators.

Patrick Duff , who has been named director, food & beverage, Fairmont Dubai. Duff has held a range of executive positions in the hospitality industry, which include executive chef roles at a variety of luxury hotels worldwide. Most recently, he served as executive chef, Fairmont Dubai.

The soon-to-open Fairmont Jaipur welcomes Anurag Bali as executive chef. Bali brings extensive culinary experience that he has gained from perfecting his craft in luxury hotels all across India.
