Overview

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, which debuted in December 2010, is a 2,995-room resort set at the center of the Las Vegas Strip. It features adynamic visual art program that bolsters the resort's distinctly different point of view. From one visit to the next, guests will see the hotel continuously reinvent itself via an ever-changing lineup of inspired contemporary art.

Art Production Fund

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has partnered with New York City's Art Production Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to producing ambitious public art projects, reaching new audiences and expanding awareness through contemporary art. Art Production Fund helped to curate the unique programs at the resort, which feature several genres across the artistic spectrum.

Artist-In-Residence

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas' artist-in-residence program brings emerging and established contemporary artists to the resort and invite them to utilize it as a creative space for the production and exhibition of their work. The program debuted with artist Fab 5 Freddy.

Art-o-mat

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas features six Art-o-mat machines, each of which dispenses a variety of original artwork. Created by artist Clark Whittington, Art-o-mat machines are made from cigarette vending machines that have been repurposed as a vehicle to distribute art to the masses. Over 90 Art-o-mat machines are currently in existence, featuring small works of art by more than 400 artist collaborators. The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is the first hotel to house the machines, as well the Art-o-mat device's first Nevada location.

Each piece of Art-o-mat art is boxed and wrapped in cellophane inside of the recycled cigarette machine. Artwork is distributed to the guest via a pull-knob dispensing mechanism—exactly like old-fashioned cigarette vending machines.

Wallworks

Four legendary artists—Shepard Fairey, Kenny Scharf, Shinique Smith, and Retna—all lend their talents to The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas' public spaces. Their graphic art transforms each of the four floors of the resort's parking garage from a utilitarian space into colorful and thought-provoking wallscapes.

Pause

PAUSE is an innovative public art program that transforms The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas 65 foot marquee into a large-scale digital canvas showcasing work from leading contemporary artists. Viewers are instantly transported from the everyday buzz of the strip to a thought-provoking place of contemplation and reflection. This urban art oasis turns an everyday sign into a cultural portal with the ability to touch everyone who passes by.
