London's Radisson Edwardian Mercer Street Renamed After Extensive Renovation
Hotel Takes on a New Name and Image After a $24 Million Redesign, Adding Destination Restaurant and Bar, Apple TVs and 1950S Style Smeg Refrigerators
October 3, 2011 - Any traveler looking to live like a stylish Londoner, if only for a few days, can now check into the Radisson Edwardian Mercer Street, located in London's trendy, eclectic neighborhood of Seven Dials, known as “London's Hidden Village.”
The 137-room boutique hotel, formerly the Radisson Edwardian Mountbatten, has undergone a $24 million top-to-bottom redesign and rebranding. In addition to taking on a new name, the hotel assumes a new identity of style and high energy while offering an unbeatable location at a great value. The Radisson Edwardian Mercer Street now has a new destination restaurant and bar, eight new suites and Apple TVs in all rooms allowing connections with iPads, iPhones and iPods. The suites offer great neighborhood views, large bathrooms with walk-in showers and separate dressing rooms complete with SMEG refrigerators sporting the Union Jack flag on the door.
The hotel's new Dial Restaurant & Bar features a signature cocktail menu, created by The Gorgeous Group, also behind well known restaurants and bars at the Hotel Missoni Kuwait, Hilton Liverpool and So by Soiftel in Bangkok. The cocktail menu incorporates the fruit, flowers and spices of the Covent Garden Market and complements the flavors of the restaurant's Moorish mezze-style menu, reflecting the area's heritage as a hub for fresh produce and new local flavors, using the finest local British produce.
The Mercer Street Hotel also features a state-of-the-art gym and six conference and meeting rooms, accommodating six to 50 people. Meeting rooms have natural daylight and feature the latest presentation technology, such as HD-ready and touch screen technology - and a “Meet Well” program that offers a more sustainable approach to meetings and events.
Within Seven Dials, guests can take advantage of the neighborhood's independent boutiques, heritage brands, vintage stores and indulgent beauty and grooming salons. Foodies will enjoy options ranging from traditional English pubs and bustling cafes to exotic restaurants, five-star brasseries and restaurants. A sampling of the neighborhood's offerings include: London-centric flagship stores, such as Neal's Yard Remedies, Miller Harris Perfume and Orla Kiely; the most expensive haircut in London, priced at 20,000 GBP (approx. $31,450) at Stuart Phillips; Mon Plaisir - London's oldest French restaurant; and London's top coffee shop, Monmouth Coffee Company.
Rates for The Mercer Street start at £179 (approx. $281) per night, based on double occupancy, excluding tax and breakfast.
