Gemstone Names New GM & RDO for Park City and Midway, Utah Properties

. February 16, 2012

PARK CITY, UTAH - February 15, 2012 - Eric Clark , a 21-year veteran of the ski resort hospitality industry, has been promoted to general manager of two new Gemstone resorts while also continuing his role as regional director of Utah & Colorado for Gemstone Hotels & Resorts, LLC. In this new capacity, he will oversee operations of three Utah properties - The Sky Lodge in Park City, Homestead Resort and Zermatt Resort in nearby Midway (where he will assume general manager duties) and The Tivoli Lodge in Vail, CO. Clark will be responsible for overseeing the application of Gemstone resources to all of these assets in order to increase revenue and profitability, ensuring superior guest and employee experiences while constantly improving the financial strength of the properties for the property owners.

“Eric has proven to be a valuable asset to Gemstone Hotels & Resorts and our staff, guests and owners,” says Jeff McIntyre, co-founder and principal of Gemstone Hotels & Resorts. “Given his significant accomplishments in elevating The Sky Lodge's revenue while improving the guest, owner and employee experience, we have expanded his role in Utah to empower him to deliver that same positive impact and exceptional leadership to Zermatt and Homestead resorts.”

In 2010, Eric Clark relocated to Park City from Colorado to join Gemstone as general manager of The Sky Lodge. During his first year working with The Sky Lodge, Main Street's finest boutique resort, he succeeded in increasing room revenues by 37 percent while positioning the hotel to be honored with Trip Advisor's Traveler Choice Awards, securing the #14 spot in the country on the esteemed list of hotels.

“Moving my family to Utah was one of the best decisions I've ever made, both personally and professionally,” says Eric Clark. “It's a privilege to take on this greater role with such a high-caliber management company like Gemstone and be involved with such unique properties.”

Prior to joining Gemstone, Eric Clark held management positions at several Colorado ski areas. He served as general manager of Winter Park Resort Lodgings, which consisted of four properties with a total of 702 rooms and nearly 50,000 square-feet of commercial space. He was also general manager of The Winter Park Mountain Lodge and director of lodging at The Village at Breckenridge, also Gemstone properties. Clark's career in ski resort hospitality began in the early '90s at Keystone Resort where he held various positions that gave him the opportunity to gain extensive experience in all areas of resort operations. He earned a B.A. from Colorado College and M.B.A. from University of Denver.
