. March 02, 2012

March 1, 2012 - The Ascott Limited (Ascott), the world's largest international serviced residence owner-operator, has announced that its Trafalgar Square property will be upgraded to a Citadines Prestige category by March 2012. The Apart'hotel is the third Ascott property in London to be transformed in the last two years.

The investment of more than £6 million represents a complete redesign and renovation over nine months, and will see the serviced residence renamed as Citadines Prestige Trafalgar Square London. Guests will benefit from an intelligently redesigned living space, offering optimum comfort and a contemporary, relaxing decor.

Perfectly positioned for easy access to London's extensive business and leisure centres, Citadines Prestige Trafalgar Square London is a first choice in city living. Located just moments from Trafalgar Square, the Apart'hotel benefits from London's strong transport infrastructure: national rail, tube and bus networks are immediately available and a constant flow of taxis runs past the property. The Houses of Parliament are within walking distance, along with the South Bank, St James' Park, Buckingham Palace, the West End, Covent Garden and flagship corporate headquarters on the north bank of the Thames.

All apartments (a total of 187 ranging from studio to one- and two-bedroom apartments) have been thoughtfully planned with the lifestyle needs of business and leisure travellers in mind. They come with air-conditioning, complimentary WiFi, flat-screen TV, well-equipped kitchen and separate bathroom facilities. Citadines Prestige Trafalgar Square London also provides a 24-hour manned reception, user-friendly business corner, lounge and breakfast areas and car park.

This refurbishment is part of a transformation programme which Ascott launched across Europe and Asia to enhance customers' experience. Six Citadines Apart'hotels have been upgraded to date including the London trio - Trafalgar Square (launching March 2012), South Kensington (launched 2010) and Holborn-Covent Garden (launched 2011) - and three in Paris: Les Halles (launched November 2011), and previously Opera Vendome and Saint-Germain-des-Près. Other Citadines Apart'hotels earmarked for transformation include La Defense and Montparnasse in Paris, and properties in Brussels, Grenoble, Lille and Lyon.

Citadines Prestige Trafalgar Square London in Detail:

The Ambience:
The design concept (BuckleyGrayYeoman) focuses on a user-friendly style and comfort. An intelligent redesign presents comfortable living accommodation to the exacting standards of a discerning traveller. The public areas have been opened up to create a warm and welcoming ambience. Colour schemes are fresh, and materials and fabrics used are natural with a rich texture and finish. Contemporary artefacts enhance the overall effect, and little luxuries betray a meticulous attention to detail.

The Studios and Apartments:
Each of the 187 open-plan studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments creates a pleasing sense of space and decorative artefacts echo the clean linear design concept. Bamboo flooring, high quality fabrics and modern chairs and sofas, couple with exclusively-commissioned works of art to reflect the property's central London location and add a chic style. In addition to state-of-the-art kitchens and bathrooms with fixtures and fittings to match, studios have fixed double or twin beds. One- and two-bedroom apartments offer an additional sofa-bed for accommodation flexibility.

Energy efficiency features include automatic power shutdown on removal of the apartment key. Every studio and apartment has air-conditioning, private kitchen, flat screen TV, complimentary WiFi and cabled internet access, and large opening windows. Some apartments have also been specially adapted to accommodate disabled guests.

The Entrance and Public Areas:
The entrance and reception area strikes a contemporary note: clean lines, natural wood and subtle colour tones emphasise style, practicality and homely comfort. The dedicated relaxation area offers comfortable sofas and the user-friendly business zone provides guests with quick access to state-of-the-art technology including flat screen TV, Mac computers and complimentary WiFi. The new barrier-free reception concept fosters better communication and practical assistance. There is also a laundry for guest use and a car park.
