STR Reports US Hotel Occupancy for Week Ending February 25, 2012
Occupancy Up 2.3% to 61.0% and ADR increases increases 4.6% to US$103.84
March 2, 2012 - The U.S. hotel industry experienced increases in all three key performance metrics during the week of 19-25 February 2012, according to data from STR.
In year-over-year comparisons for the week, occupancy was up 2.3 percent to 61.0 percent, average daily rate increased 4.6 percent to US$103.84, and revenue per available room was up 6.9 percent to US$63.38.
Among the Top 25 Markets, New Orleans, Louisiana, reported the largest increase in occupancy, rising 15.9 percent to 76.9 percent, followed by Houston, Texas, with an 11.6-percent increase to 71.6 percent. Phoenix, Arizona (-7.1 percent to 75.9 percent), and Orlando, Florida (-3.9 percent to 85.0 percent) posted the largest occupancy decreases.
New Orleans jumped 59.6 percent in RevPAR to US$122.72, followed by Houston (+21.6 percent to US$73.34) and Nashville, Tennessee (+14.0 percent to US$60.48). Phoenix fell 4.3 percent in RevPAR to US$96.02, reporting the largest decrease in that metric, followed by Washington, D.C., with a 2.0-percent decrease to US$73.75.
