Change at the Head of Board of Governors of Ecole Hotelière de Lausanne

Lausanne - 7 March 2012 - Andre Witschi has been appointed President of the Board of Governors of Ecole hotelière de Lausanne (EHL). He succeeds Marco Torriani who has held this position for 12 years. The handover between Mr Witschi and Mr Torriani took place on the EHL campus on 5 March 2012.

Andre Witschi began his career with the Mövenpick Group where he held various positions. He then moved to the Accor Group in 1991 as Director of Ibis for Austria, Germany, Poland, Italy and Southern France. In 1996, he was awarded the Prize for Hotelier of the Year in Germany. Andre Witschi took over as European Director of Accor Hotellerie Economique in 1999 before becoming Chairman of the Management Board of Accor Hotellerie Deutschland GmbH from 2003. In 2008, he was appointed President of the Management Board of Steigenberger Hotels AG, a position he occupied until the group was sold in 2009.

Andre Witschi is currently a Member of the Supervisory Board of Lindner Hotels AG ; Member of the Board of Directors of Scandic Hotels ; Member of the Board of Directors of Build S.A and Member of the Board of DEHOGA/IHA (German Association of Hoteliers and Restaurateurs).

The Board of Governors, composed of representatives of academia and the hospitality sector, establishes the broad strategic directions of Ecole hotelière de Lausanne. Now chaired by Andre Witschi, the Board is gaining three new members : Mrs Miriam Meckel, Doctor and Professor of Corporate Communication and Director of the Media and Communication Institute of the University of St. Gallen, Mr Marc-Andre Berclaz, Chairman of the Management Board of HES-SO and Mr François Dussart, Managing Director of the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne. Mr Olivier Blanc and Mr Emmanuel Berger are leaving the Board of Governors.
