Hotel Adagio Receives Multi-million Dollar Transformation

July 2, 2012 - Maryland-based Chesapeake Lodging Trust (NYSE: CHSP) today announced a multi-million dollar renovation is well underway at the iconic Hotel Adagio San Francisco, located in Union Square, the epicenter of the city's fashion, arts and theatre scene. The transformation, which is slated for completion in July 2012, includes a refurbishment of each of the property's 171 guestrooms, penthouse suites and public spaces, expanded meeting and event space, as well as a newly-concepted restaurant and lobby-level bar.

The renovation includes a complete interior restyling of the hotel's guestrooms and common areas using a chic, modern design aesthetic, while maintaining the striking, historic Spanish Revival architecture embodied by the exterior façade. The vision, developed by Barbara Parker of Massachusetts-based design firm Parker Torres, features a sophisticated, textured backdrop comprised of warm coffee tones, and punctuated with vibrant pops of color - fresh green and deep grape in the Hotel Adagio's guestrooms, and rich orange and cranberry in the public spaces. Distinctive furniture pieces, extensive woodwork and marble mosaics complete the design.

In addition to guestroom and public area redesign, the project includes a complete renovation and reconcepting of the hotel's onsite restaurant, as well as the existing Bar Adagio. Plans include the update of the current bar space to create a dynamic new neighborhood nightlife option catering to travelers and San Francisco locals alike, with a revamped cocktail menu, communal seating and regular musical entertainment.

In an effort to meet the needs of San Francisco's corporate groups and convention clientele the renovation includes the creation of additional meeting space. The meeting space expansion, coupled with a redesign of the hotel's penthouse level suites will now allow guests to buyout the entire the 16th floor which includes three guestrooms, two luxury suites, two meeting rooms with a wrap-around outdoor terrace featuring stunning San Francisco views. With completion of the project, the property will feature more than 3,000 square feet of meeting space.
