Cypress Grille Debuts at Holiday Inn Sacramento
Capitol Plaza Dining Facility Enhancements Part of Final Phase of $10mil Makeover
FEBRUARY 22, 2007. The Holiday Inn Sacramento Capitol Plaza Hotel in California today announced the opening of the new Cypress Grille restaurant as part of the final phase of a $10 million hotel makeover. Cypress Grille is a bistro-style, signature restaurant concept found within the John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts, LLC portfolio. The hotel is owned and managed by Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts, LLC, the nation's leading independent builder, developer, owner and manager of upscale, full-service hotels, resorts and suites ( www.jqhhotels.com).
Cypress Grille offers guests and locals an elegant yet casual dining experience. Its modern d'ecor features a vibrant color palette of red, golden yellow and chocolate brown accented by warm wooden floors, bold carpeting and contemporary lighting. Abstract art adorns the walls, mirroring the geometric shapes in the upholstery and carpet treatments. A striking wall of windows showcases patio dining and affords a clear view of the bustling downtown streets of historic Sacramento.
"Cypress Grille brings a new dimension to our guest experience and unifies our hotel's enhanced look and feel," said Liz Tavernese, general manager of the Holiday Inn Sacramento Capitol Plaza Hotel. "Guests will find an exciting, eclectic menu and an elegant space to dine, relax and socialize."
Offering both table and booth seating, Cypress Grille can comfortably accommodate large parties, with room for 130 in the main dining area and additional seating on the patio. Guests can also enjoy three flat-screen televisions, placed throughout the restaurant, for catching up on sports, news and popular television shows.
Culinary Leadership
Chrissy Lingren, executive chef, and Robert Cain, sous chef, have been an integral part of the execution and development of the Cypress Grille's concept. Together they have fashioned an eclectic menu that features regional favorites and highlights their flair for creativity.
Lingren, a 20-year hospitality industry veteran, has served the Holiday Inn Capitol Plaza for the past four years, and Cain has showcased his award-winning talents in prestigious Las Vegas and San Diego hotels.
"I wanted to create foods that start with fresh ingredients, are both fun and flavorful, and are served in an atmosphere of casual elegance," Lingren said.
In addition to the restaurant's new appearance, the staff is also donning new uniforms. Evening attire consists of white Oxford shirts, black pants, an apron and a choice of yellow or green tie.
