Little Fans Become Safari Sleuths When Checking-in

WQASHINGTON, DC, March 6, 2007. Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C., in conjunction with Friends of the National Zoo, the non-profit partner of the Smithsonian's National Zoo, is delighted to offer the exclusive Safari Sleuths family travel package*. Available 1 May through 31 October, the new package provides children and their parents the opportunity to embark on an educational journey throughout the hotel and the National Zoo's brand-new Asia Trail, a series of state-of-the-art new exhibits for seven Asian species including giant pandas, clouded leopards and sloth bears.

Upon check-in at Mandarin Oriental, children will visit the concierge desk to receive instructions needed to complete their Asia Trail scavenger hunt through nearly six acres of waterfalls, rocky outcrops and bamboo groves. To accompany their visit to the Zoo, "safari sleuths" will be given a Welcome Adventure Pack including a plush giant panda toy, Zoo trading cards, safari hat to wear on their quest and a Fujifilm QuickSnap camera to remember their experience.

Once the "safari sleuths" complete their scavenger hunt at the Zoo, they will return to Mandarin Oriental and submit their findings. If the hunt is a success, the concierge will reward the sleuths with the "Wild Animalopoly" board game to take home.

In addition to overnight accommodations, the Safari Sleuths package includes breakfast for two adults and two children in Caf'e MoZU, valet parking, and two USD50 certificates for The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C. to be used on a two-hour journey.
