Ala Moana Has New GM and Assistant GM
HONOLULU, HI, March 12, 2007. ALM Management Services LLC, an affiliate of Outrigger Enterprises Group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Grant James as general manager and Ron Takayama as assistant general manager of the Ala Moana Hotel.
In their new positions, James is responsible for all aspects of the hotel including hotel operations, rental program owner satisfaction, and physical Association of Apartment Owners (AOAO) management while Takayama oversees the Rooms Division departments in addition to providing wider support for James.
Grant James is no stranger to the Outrigger group having come from Outrigger 's affiliated company in Australia, where he served as general manager of the Outrigger Sun City Resort at Surfers Paradise, before being promoted to director of operations for Outrigger's Australia division. James first joined Outrigger as general manager of the Outrigger Marshall Islands Resort in 2002.
Prior to joining Outrigger, James worked for Hacienda Motel (Best Western), Southern Pacific Hotels, and RACV Ltd. With over 28 years of hospitality and retail management experience, James has a strong record in both hotel and resort condominium management. James earned his diploma in Hospitality Management from William Angliss College of Catering & Food Service.
Ron Takayama spent many years as director of rooms for the Ala Moana Hotel before stepping in as acting general manager in late 2005. Takayama has over 30 years in the hospitality industry field and started his career as a management trainee for Maui Inter-Continental Wailea. Throughout his career, he has gained knowledgeable experience having worked at various positions including reservations supervisor, front desk manager and rooms director. Prior to joining Ala Moana Hotel, he held the position of executive assistant manager for Pacific Beach Hotel. Takayama holds a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii-Manoa.
