Kennebunkport Resort Collection Restructures Management Team for 2014 Season
KENNEBUNKPORT, ME - February 5, 2014 - In a continuing effort to redefine coastal Maine's hospitality landscape, the Kennebunkport Resort Collection (KRC) today announced a management restructure. Designed to enhance the guest experience at each property and realize synergies between them, the restructuring will further enhance KRC's reputation for fine dining and hospitality, according to KRC Founding Partner and Operator Debbie Lennon.
Justin Grimes, general manager of the luxury resort Hidden Pond, will add management of The Tides Beach Club to his roster. Damien Janowicz, the former general manager of The Tides Beach Club, will now manage the Kennebunkport Inn and the Cape Arundel Inn & Resort, which this year encompasses the Old Fort Inn to offer a richer resort experience to guests. Mindy Markowski, who in previous seasons oversaw the Old Fort Inn & Resort and Cape Arundel Inn, now serves as general manager of the Grand Hotel and The Boathouse Waterfront Hotel.
KRC rolled out the dual-property management strategy last summer with the launch of The Lodge on the Cove. Christy Reid assumed general manager duties of the new family-friendly resort with a "retro chic" vibe in addition to her responsibilities at The Cottages at Cabot Cove.
"Grimes, Janowicz, Markowski, and Reid are a dynamic team of professionals with proven abilities to manage these showpiece properties and their staff. This shift to greater accountability at the property level demonstrates our commitment to continue to provide memorable experiences to our guests," said Lennon.
Justin Grimes, General Manager, Hidden Pond and The Tides Beach Club
Born and bred in Ogunquit, Maine, Grimes stuck close to his roots when he joined luxury boutique resort Hidden Pond in March 2011as assistant general manager. He was quickly promoted to serve as general manager in April 2012 and now adds management of The Tides Beach Club to his responsibilities.
Prior to joining Hidden Pond, Grimes worked for Fairmont Hotels, helping to open the Fairmont Pittsburgh. He graduated from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration in 2009.
Damien Janowicz, General Manager, Kennebunkport Inn and Cape Arundel Inn & Resort
Janowicz joined the KRC team in 2009 and quickly climbed the ranks at KRC, serving in a variety of food and beverage roles before overseeing The Tides Beach Club. As the new general manager of the Kennebunkport Inn and the Cape Arundel Inn & Resort, Janowicz's extensive f&b knowledge will help strengthen the properties' respective restaurants - One Dock, which showcases native Maine favorites with a cosmopolitan twist, and Ocean, which offers fine cuisine inspired by southern French and Mediterranean flavors.
Janowicz graduated from the hospitality management program at the University of New Hampshire Whittemore School of Business and Economics. Prior to that, he studied interior design at Chester College, which will be helpful in his new position as the Kennebunkport Inn rooms undergo a renovation in spring 2014.
Mindy Markowski, General Manager, Grand Hotel and The Boathouse Waterfront Hotel
A Maine native, Markowski brings more than 15 years of local hospitality experience to The Boathouse Waterfront Hotel, KRC's newest property, and the Grand Hotel. Most recently, she served as the general manager of KRC's Old Fort Inn & Resort and helped open the acquired Cape Arundel Inn in 2013 and newly built Grand Hotel in 2012.
Prior to joining KRC in 2011, Markowski was general manager of the Residence Inn by Marriott in Scarborough, Maine. She started her career at Morgan RV Resorts in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, where she progressed from front desk associate to assistant to the general manager and finally to general manager of properties Virginia Park RV Resort and Wagon Wheel RV Resort.
Christy Reid, General Manager, The Cottages at Cabot Cove and The Lodge on The Cove
With a background in design, Reid joined the KRC team in 2007 as project manager of Hidden Pond, collaborating with architects, designers, building contractors and more to open the resort. Once open, she transitioned to general manager. In 2011 she became general manager of The Cottages at Cabot Cove and in 2012 added project manager of The Lodge on the Cove to her roles, working closely with the design team to open the resort. She is now general manager of both The Cottages at Cabot Cove and The Lodge on the Cove.
This summer, Reid will oversee the implementation of fun new programming at The Lodge on the Cove, including family yoga, water aerobics, movie nights, evening bonfires and a shuttle to nearby Colony beach complete with a picnic lunch.
Reid graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a focus on studio arts and before joining KRC was co-owner and a designer at Favela Chic LLC, a design consultation service. She now co-owns Industry Framing in Kennebunk.
