Scout Hotels Announces Five Corporate Appointments
February 5, 2014 - Scout Hotels has promoted five executives to new positions: Lara West to regional director of sales, Tammy Capitanio to corporate director of revenue, Elizabeth Rothwell to regional director of marketing, Bill Strickland to regional director of food and beverage, and Kathy Olsen to regional director of human resources.
West and Capitanio are both veteran members of the Scout Hotels team, while Rothwell, Strickland, and Olsen join the corporate office from two Scout-managed Massachusetts hotels, the historic Harbor View Hotel on Martha's Vineyard and Sea Crest Beach Hotel on Cape Cod.
In announcing the promotions, Clark Guinn, regional director of operations for Scout Hotels, commented, “As we continue to develop and expand our organization, Scout Hotels has been fortunate to be able to draw from a wealth of in-house talent. West, Capitanio, Rothwell, Strickland and Olsen are all valued members of the Scout team who have grown in their respective careers as the firm has grown. Lara West, Regional Director of Sales
West is an eight-year veteran of Scout Hotels and its related properties since its inception in 2006. Since 2012, she has served on the corporate team as regional director of sales and marketing. Her previous positions with the firm include director of sales and marketing and director of sales for Scout-managed Sea Crest Beach Hotel, and director of group sales for Harbor View Hotel and Kelley House. Before she joined Scout Hotels, West spent more than 18 years in a series of managerial roles for several island resorts - Wyndham Bermuda Resort & Spa, Sonesta Beach Resort Bermuda, and Sonesta Beach Resort & Villas Anguilla - as well as the Westin Hotel Copley Place in Boston. She is a graduate of Boston University with a degree in hotel and food administration.
Tammy Capitanio, Corporate Director of Revenue
Capitanio brings over 19 years of experience to her new role. Most recently, she was regional director of revenue, with responsibilities for all three Massachusetts properties. Prior to that, she spent 15 years in a variety of management positions at Harbor View Hotel and Kelley House, including revenue manager, rooms manager, front office manager, and director of housekeeping. She joined the historic Martha's Vineyard property in 1995 as housekeeping manager. A graduate of University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Capitanio holds a degree in hospitality management.
Elizabeth Rothwell, Regional Director of Marketing
Rothwell joins the Scout Hotels corporate office from Harbor View Hotel and Kelley House, where she served in a variety of roles since 2003. Most recently she was director of marketing and special events at Harbor View Hotel, where she oversaw corporate meetings and events. Rothwell brings with her a solid marketing background that includes work for Martha's Vineyard Online, as well as strong ties to the Martha's Vineyard community, including her roles on the board of directors for the MV Chamber of Commerce and the Edgartown Board of Trade. Rothwell is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, with degrees in marketing and French.
Bill Strickland, Regional Director of Food and Beverage
Strickland brings over 30 years of food and beverage experience to his new role, where he will oversee the food and beverage operations for Scout Hotels. Most recently he was the director of food and beverage for Sea Crest Beach Hotel, managing its restaurants, including Red's Restaurant & Lounge and Shutters, as well as its banquet and catering departments. Earlier in his career, Strickland worked in various capacities in the field and served as the assistant food and beverage director at Ocean Edge Resort & Club in Brewster, Mass., director of food and beverage for Starwood Hotels & Resorts' Four Points by Sheraton, Hyannis, Mass. and also held positions at Chatham Bars Inn, Chatham, Mass. and The Ocean Reef Club, Key Largo, Fla. He launched his career in 1984 at the award winning Cloister Hotel in Sea Island, Ga. where he held a variety of management positions over his 13 year tenure including banquet captain and food and beverage manager.
Kathleen Olsen, Regional Director of Human Resources
Olsen brings to her new corporate position more than 19 years of hospitality experience. For the past 17 she has led human resources for four Cape Cod hotels, most recently Sea Crest Beach Hotel, a Scout-managed hotel in North Falmouth, and earlier for the Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis, Four Points by Sheraton Hyannis Resort, and Sheraton Hyannis Resort and Four Points Hotel. She launched her career in 1995 as front office manager of the New Seabury Resort in Mashpee, Mass.
