MARCH 14, 2007. Hospitality industry veteran David Bartek has joined Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando as the new general manager of Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando, A Loews Hotel. The move marks a return to Orlando for Bartek, who previously spent 10 years in the Central Florida hotel market at the Orlando Marriott International Drive and the Barcel'o Orlando Hotel.

Bartek brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the industry and has served as area manager of Crestline Hotels and Resorts and general manager at the Marriott Bay Point Resort, Atlanta Marriott Gwinnett Place and Wyndham Salt Lake City. He has held general manager positions with the Davidson Hotel Company and worked as director of operations and director of engineering for Interstate Hotels. Most recently, he was vice president of operations for Centex Hospitality Group, where he was responsible for the company's resort and active adult communities, and played a major role in the creation and implementation of brand standards.

"David's record for improving business levels and guest satisfaction, as well as his ability to develop team members for growth and promotion within the company are exceptional," says David King, regional vice president of operations for Loews Hotels. "He is joining our company at an exciting time, as we continue to build and grow the Loews Hotels brand."

Bartek began his hospitality career on the engineering side of the hotel business and brings with him a keen understanding of the demands of operating a 1,000-room resort. A graduate of Point Park College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Bartek is married and the father of four children.
