Multiple Management Changes Within Jumeirah Group
September 22, 2014 - There have been multiple management changes within Jumeirah Group, the global luxury hotel brand. From multiple new General Manager appointments spanning the globe to a new Regional Vice President of Europe to a long time leader saying farewell to the brand.
Bidding Farewell
After 11 years' of loyal service to Jumeirah as the General Manager of Jumeirah Carlton Tower and Regional Vice President Europe, Derek Picot has decided to step down from his position and leave the company. Picot will remain active in service with Jumeirah Group throughout the end of September as the new role is filled. Picot, who has a 30-year track record in the international hospitality hotel sector, joined Jumeirah in March 2003 and has led multiple properties to success since then.
Management Changes in Europe and Abu Dhabi
Following Derek Picots decision to retire, Jumeirah has appointed Doris Greif as Regional Vice President Europe as well as General Manager of Jumeirah Frankfurt. Greif moves here from her current role as General Manager of Jumeirah at Eithad Towers in Abu Dhabi which will be taken over by the current Hotel Manager Stefan Fuchs. Greif has played an integral role in Jumeirah for 15 years and Fuchs 8 years.
General Manager Appointments
New General Managers were appointed this week at Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel and Spa in Mallorca, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray in Dubai and Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel in Shanghai. Jordi E. Tarrida, a German national will take over from Fernando Gibaja, a Spanish national, who has moved from Spain to Dubai to embark on a new role as General Manager of Jumeirah Zabeel Saray. Both Tarrida and Gibaja are veterans in the hospitality industry working previously for brands such as Trump, Arabella and St. Regis.
The first ever Jumeirah hotel in Asia Pacific announced the appointment of Maximilian Pleyer as the new General Manager. Pleyer has over 30 years experience in the hospitality industry working for brands such as Kempinski, Conrad and Mandarin Oriental all over Asia. He also guided the pre-open of the landmark Hilton Hotel in Zhengzhou and will bring great expertise into his role at Jumeirah Himalayas Shanghai.
