IHG Appoints Alexi Hakim, COO, UK & Ireland

. October 14, 2008

ATLANTA, GA, April 6, 2007. IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) today announces that Alexi Hakim will become Chief Operating Officer for the UK and Ireland as of May 21st, 2007.

With 25 years experience in the hospitality industry, Alexi replaces John Bamsey, who on April 1st took over the Dubai-based role of Chief Operating Officer for the Middle East and Africa for IHG.

As Vice President, Full Service Operations, North America, Alexi is currently responsible for the overall performance of the Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza managed estate in the United States and Canada. For the past four years, Alexi has been instrumental in overseeing the opening of the first two Hotel Indigos in the US as well as establishing a strong foothold for the Crowne Plaza growth strategy.

Alexi's career started at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans, where he held a variety of field positions over eight years. Alexi joined Hilton Hotels in 1999 as the Vice President of Operations for their Los Angeles County hotels. Prior to rejoining IHG in 2002 he worked for Promus Hotels Corporation, the parent company of Embassy Suites and Doubletree, serving as General Manager, Vice President and Regional Vice President of Operations in a number of locations across the United States.

"With the UK and Ireland remaining one of our biggest markets, Alexi's vast experience in hotel operations, coupled with his ability to forge strong relationships with our owners, will prove invaluable in enabling IHG to continue to grow its presence within the EMEA region," said Richard Hartman, Managing Director, EMEA. "Similarly, we are confident that, under his leadership, the team will be further incentivised to meet our development targets of adding 50,000 to 60,000 new rooms in three years and we look forward to welcoming him to our Windsor office."
