Lewis Appointed General Manger at Carefree Resort & Village

CAREFREE, AZ, August 18, 2005. Kelly Lewis has been appointed general manager of the 405-room Carefree Resort & Villas, according to Greg Champion, president and CEO of Tiburon Hospitality Management, the resort's management company.

Lewis, who brings more than 22 years of venerated hospitality experience to Carefree, was most recently the general manager for the resort's sister property, Daufuskie Island Resort & Breathe Spa, an exclusive island resort off the coast of Hilton Head, S.C., that is accessible only by ferry.

Lewis spent a year on Daufuskie Island as director of resort operations before being promoted to General Manager in May 2004. He has extensive upper level management experience in all facets of the hospitality industry including operations and food and beverage. His experience includes but is not limited to the Shangri La's Golden Sands Resort in Malaysia; the Half Moon Golf, Tennis and Beach Club in Montego Bay, Jamaica; Pacific Islands Club in Saipan; the Hamilton Princess Hotel in Bermuda; and the Hyatt Regency Maui in Hawaii.

Born in New Market, England, Lewis was raised in Scottsdale and attended the University of Arizona in Tucson. He is married with two children and currently resides in Carefree, AZ. He can be reached by calling the resort at 480-488-5300.

The 405-room Carefree Resort & Villas is managed by Tiburon Hospitality Management and features two sparkling pools, a full-service spa, five tennis courts, deluxe health club, two restaurants, an internet cafe and nearby golf.
