Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa Celebrates Topping Off of New Guestroom Tower as Part of $150 Million Transformation

USA, Austin, Texas. August 07, 2018

Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa has completed the topping off of construction on the resort's new guestroom tower, a significant milestone in a $150-million transformation of this iconic Texas Hill Country retreat. The new tower will be a signature feature when Omni Barton Creek reopens as a 493-guestroom resort in May 2019.

“The evolution of Omni Barton Creek is our most highly anticipated project to debut in 2019 and it's an unprecedented investment in our resort collection,” said Peter Strebel, president of Omni Hotels & Resorts. “Upon completion, Omni Barton Creek will be a mecca for relaxation, golf, culinary and meeting and event experiences. We are looking forward to welcoming our guests and meeting planners to our new home in the Hill Country next year.”

Design-build firm The Beck Group is leading the resort's evolution. The new Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa will feature:

- New resort tower featuring a unique lobby bar experience and 180 luxurious guest rooms, including 50 suites, with floor-to-ceiling windows

- Seven new dining experiences throughout the resort

- New conference center, ballroom and outdoor events pavilion

- Canyons Clubhouse, a new golf clubhouse, which opened in 2018, at the acclaimed Fazio Canyons golf course

- A new Mokara Spa and wellness center

- Expanded poolscapes

- New tennis complex

- Updated decor and design in all existing guest rooms and meeting spaces

“We are pleased to be working well ahead of schedule in order to allow the new Omni Barton Creek to open and welcome guests in May 2019, a beautiful time of year to visit Austin,” said Bryan Smith, regional general superintendent for The Beck Group. “The Beck Group is both designing and building the new Omni Barton Creek, which keeps construction moving at an accelerated pace. The new tower and conference center's view of and connection to the surrounding Hill Country is central to the design of the resort.”

The Design

Featuring panoramic views of the lush Hill Country landscape, the resort's relaxed yet contemporary design blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces. The new resort tower and lobby experience will emulate the feel of a luxurious Hill Country home, with a wraparound porch, fireplace and casual lobby bar lounge. Just beyond the lobby, a new multi-tiered pool deck will feature an infinity pool overlooking the 18th green of the Fazio Foothills golf course. An Austin oasis, guests will relax poolside in several hot tubs and private cabanas.Culinary Experience Omni Barton Creek will be its own culinary destination celebrating the diversity of food that Austin is known for. From fresh fish, grass-fed meat and Latin cuisine to a sports bar and Bob's Steak & Chop House - seven new dining outlets will provide a variety of dining experiences authentic to the resort's Austin location.

- Texas Spice, a casual dining restaurant featuring the Art of Breakfast

- Nopales, a Latin restaurant inspired by prickly pear cactus with a creative cocktail menu and dishes such as ceviche, asado and churrasco

- Crossroads, a healthy-eating outlet with seafood and grass-fed beef

- Bob's Steak & Chop House, a traditional American steakhouse

- Crenshaw's, a draughtsman-inspired sports lounge paying homage to each of the resort's famed golf course architects

- Velvet Joe's coffee market

- Jim Bob's Lounge, a gathering spot serving light bites and drinks

- Canyons Grill, located at the new golf clubhouse near the Fazio Canyons golf course

Meetings and Events

To accommodate the growing demand for meetings and events at Omni Barton Creek, the resort will add a new event pavilion, grand ballroom, six meeting rooms and additional pre-function space in the new conference center. All existing meeting rooms will undergo an extensive refresh and once complete, groups will have access to a total of 76,192 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space.

Golf

Omni Barton Creek, one of the leading golf resorts in the country, has also kicked off a multi-year golf course improvement project. Home to four nationally acclaimed championship courses, Omni Barton Creek completed renovations to Fazio Foothills in Spring 2018. In late 2018 the resort will debut a newly enhanced Coore Crenshaw Cliffside course, and a renovation to Fazio Canyons course will be completed in October 2019.

Wellness

In addition to golf, Omni Barton Creek will be a wellness and fitness retreat. The new 13,000-square-foot Mokara Spa and adults-only pool will be a sanctuary of natural materials, water features and gardens. An expanded fitness center will feature state-of-the-art equipment, an indoor pool, and the latest workout classes. And, at the Barton Creek Country Club, a new championship tennis center will open with ten lighted courts, professional instructors and a pro shop.
