Mar Del Cabo Opens in Los Cabos, Mexico

Velas Resorts Expands Mexican Hotel Collection With First European Plan Boutique Hotel Property

Mexico, Los Cabos, Baja California Sur. December 12, 2018

Mar del Cabo debuts on Mexico's Baja Peninsula with a new look after a $4 Million renovation of the former Marbella Suites. Located midway between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, the European Plan boutique hotel is now the sixth property of Velas Resorts and its only EP offering.

Mar del Cabo is a stylish adaptation of the classic boutique hotel, designed to captivate and comfort with its space of unassuming and pleasing minimalism. Created as a white canvas with touches of color and chic design, it is the deep blue of the Sea of Cortez and the golden beaches that add tone, depth and natural accents. Mar del Cabo invites travelers to enjoy a stylish beachy vibe while still maintaining the high-end service and features expected with a property associated with Velas Resorts.

Mar del Cabo has 46 one and two bedroom suites and two penthouses. Each unit has a king or two queen size beds, kitchenette with coffee maker and microwave oven, terrace with sitting area, separate living area with sofa, bathroom width step-in rain shower, and daily turndown service.

A common denominator with Velas Resorts, the culinary delights will not disappoint, as organic cuisine inspired by local Baja dishes and coastal Mediterranean favorites will be served at the Encanto Restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A bar, oceanfront spa, sleek and sensual ocean-front pool, as well as outdoor spaces to hold private events complete Mar del Cabo.

Room rates start at $191 USD per night. For more information and to book, call 1.844.314.2352, email [email protected] or visit https://mardelcabo.com/.

Architecture & Design: Wellness is Key

Like every other facet of hotel operations, architecture and design firms are adapting their work to ensure the safety and well-being of both guests and staff. New ways to bring Wellness into hotel spaces are being explored and these solutions are taking on many forms. Hotel designs are incorporating more open floor plans, open air spaces, high ceilings, outdoor areas and operable walls into their spaces. Guests no longer want to be packed into tight areas. More "biophilic" elements are also being incorporated, offering guests the sense of being outdoors. Another trend is the reimagining of guest rooms to support remote work capabilities. Some hotels are converting empty guest rooms into office spaces, complete with effective lighting and suitable backgrounds for video conferencing. Dedicated Zoom Rooms are also becoming increasingly popular. The main goal is to provide guests with a positive experience in a space that feels safe and comfortable. These are some of the architecture and design subjects that will be covered in the November issue of the Hotel Business Review.
