St. Regis Washington D.C. Appoints New General Manager, Winfred van Workum

Winfred van Workum has been named the new General Manager of The St. Regis Washington, D.C., a historic, luxury hotel ideally situated two blocks from the White House. Van Workum joins the hotel with over 20 years of luxury hospitality experience, boasting expertise in both hotel and food and beverage management. A tenured industry veteran, van Workum will be responsible for all aspects of operations at the iconic luxury hotel.

Born in the Netherlands into a family of hospitality entrepreneurs, Mr. van Workum pursued his family's legacy attending one of Europe's top hotel management schools in The Hague. His entrepreneurial upbringing combined with his education and early learnings in the field proved valuable, and would eventually lead his career to the world's finest hotels and restaurants, including several Forbes Five Star and AAA Five Diamond properties.

In 2000, after working in Holland, Germany and Ireland, van Workum journeyed across the Atlantic to lead the Food & Beverage operations at several iconic hotels, including The Breakers Palm Beach, Sandy Lane and Jumeirah Essex House. In 2007, van Workum joined The Ritz-Carlton brand and brought a wealth of luxury experience to his food and beverage leadership roles in Dallas, and later in South Beach, Miami. In 2014, he was promoted to Hotel Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Bal Harbour, where he led the conversion of the hotel to The Ritz-Carlton brand.

Van Workum joins The St. Regis Washington, D.C. from The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park, where he served as General Manager for the past three years. During his tenure at the Forbes Five Star, AAA Five Diamond luxury hotel, he oversaw the successful completion of a full hotel renovation and repositioned the flagship New York hotel as the city's premier luxury hotel.
