SIHOT Acquires POS Hardware Company

Leading Hotel Management System Purchases Addipos to Expand Offering

Germany, Saarland, Schiffweiler. December 14, 2022

SIHOT, one of the world's leading modular hotel management systems with over 3,500 installations, has acquired ADDIPOS to expand its hardware portfolio in the hospitality market.

The Germany-based property management system (PMS) has collaborated with ADDIPOS for a number of years - working in conjunction to deliver POS hardware and software to the region. With the purchase, SIHOT's parent company GUBSE will take over control of the company founded in 2004.

ADDIPOS employees across all its German offices in Saarbrücken, Berlin and in its network of 17 countries will not be affected. The founders of ADDIPOS, Kai Grobusch and Peter Schmelzer, will also remain with the business for the foreseeable future.

The acquisition enables SIHOT to expand its offering with POS hardware to complement its Cloud SaaS system. ADDIPOS, based in Saarbrucken, is one of Germany's leading providers of integrative POS systems within catering, hotels and bakeries with over 1138 installations.

"We have always seen a great deal of value in our collaboration," said Carsten Wernet, Chief executive, SIHOT. "This will now allow us to even further bring our strengths together, and enable the expertise of Peter and Kai to invest in the software development processes and resources of GUBSE to take the POS market to the next level."

Sales & Marketing: Integrating Technology

The Sales & Marketing department is responsible for maximizing a hotel's revenue by developing programs to increase occupancy and to make profitable use of its meeting and leisure facilities. Increasingly, managers are utilizing sophisticated digital technology to help them achieve those goals. Virtual Reality is being integrated into booking engines which provide potential guests the opportunity to tour a property from afar, including wedding, event and food & beverage facilities. Voice Search has also become a popular marketing tool. Using smart home devices, it's now possible for customers to book hotels entirely through voice commands. Chatbots are becoming more ubiquitous as hotels seek to refine their online customer service. Chatbots can answer common questions, push key marketing messages, increase direct bookings, and even guide customers through the booking process. Finally, hotels are already preparing for the debut of the Metaverse and planning how sales and marketing departments will fully participate. The June Hotel Business Review will focus on the sales and marketing strategies that some hotels are adopting and how they are benefiting from them.
