The Starling Atlanta Midtown Appoints Kathryn Day as General Manager

USA, Atlanta, Georgia. February 07, 2023

The Starling Atlanta Midtown, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton and managed by Schulte Hospitality, announced Kathryn Day as its General Manager. Formerly The W Atlanta Midtown, the hotel reopened as The Starling in June 2022 as part of the Curio Collection, Hilton's line of curiosity-inspired boutique hotels. The 466-room full-service hotel boasts a lobby-level bar & lounge, two restaurant concepts, a full-service spa, an outdoor pool and numerous conference centers and ballrooms. Day, a native of Sydney, Australia, presides over the hotel's day-to-day operations to ensure top-tier guest experiences in each of the hotel's service areas.

Upon joining the team at The Starling, Day played a critical role in opening the hotel after its rebrand. The hotel's new identity, says Day, is "an embodiment of the dynamic landscape of Atlanta, bold and ever-changing." Day's vision for The Starling is to create a luxury and Atlanta-centric experience for all guests. "Hilton's Curio Collection paints a beautiful portrait of each property's location. As a transplant to Atlanta, I've seen firsthand the true depth of Atlanta's culture, and The Starling prompts travelers to go deeper."

A seasoned luxury hospitality professional, Day arrives with over a decade of experience in executive hospitality roles. Her resume boasts brands like Four Seasons, Kessler Collection, Shangri-La and numerous Hilton properties including Waldorf Astoria, Conrad Maldives and Chicago's iconic Drake Hotel. One of Day's most notable roles was opening Mansion on Forsyth Park, one of Savannah's top hotels and a favorite of such publications as Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure.

Day, while being a top-level hospitality veteran, is at the same time a wife and mother. Day credits the ‘behind-the-scenes' of her successes to the incredible strength that her husband and mentors have extended to her over the years. "There's certainly a glass ceiling that you encounter as a woman in any industry," she remarks. "But when you surround yourself with such colleagues and loved ones as I have over the years and continue to challenge yourself at each turn, the ceiling begins to disappear altogether."

Day looks forward to guiding The Starling into 2023 with plenty of exciting events and promotions to engage travelers and Atlanta residents alike. "Atlanta has a story to tell, and whether you've lived here all your life or you're in town overnight, The Starling is a great place to hear it."
