Archer Hotel Napa Welcomes Chris Costas as General Manager

USA, Napa, California. June 19, 2025

Archer Hotel Napa is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Costas as its new general manager, bringing dynamic leadership, a passion for hospitality and a deep-rooted connection to Napa Valley to the helm of the boutique hotel.

For Costas, a longtime Napa resident, this role is more than a professional milestone — it's a meaningful opportunity to help shape a hotel that serves as a welcoming gathering place for visitors and neighbors. He recognizes Archer's role as a cornerstone of downtown Napa's evolving hospitality landscape.

A Career Built on Hospitality and Connection

Costas's journey began not in a traditional hotel lobby, but on the open sea — as head sommelier aboard Princess Cruises, working seven days a week for 11 months straight — a stretch that tested and strengthened his resolve. That early experience informed a career rooted in resilience, empathy and guest connection. His hospitality path led through renowned properties including Sanctuary Resort on Camelback Mountain, Silverado Resort & Spa, and Woodside Hotels.

Most recently, Costas served as managing director at Indian Springs Resort, where he led his team through the challenges of the pandemic with authenticity and grace. He credits much of his leadership ethos to mentors who emphasized the simple, powerful mantra: "Seek first to understand."

A Leadership Style That Puts People First

"At its core, hospitality is about caring for people — your team and your guests," says Costas. "When a team feels valued, supported and empowered, that spirit carries into every guest interaction. That's what transforms service into true hospitality."

Costas also brings a deep understanding of Napa — its rhythms, its character and the careful balance between being a world-class destination and a beloved hometown. Having spent years building his career in the region, he sees Archer Hotel Napa as a gathering place — a vibrant hub where locals and visitors alike can savor the best of downtown Napa.

Napa Roots and a Vision for What's Next

Costas, his partner Ashley and their daughter live within walking distance of Archer, rooted in the community they love. They share a passion for hosting elaborate home-cooked meals inspired by the flavors of wine country — a tradition that celebrates their love of food, wine and the joy of gathering.

"Napa is more than a destination," Costas shares. "It's a way of life — and it's a true honor to be part of a hotel that reflects that spirit."

As he steps into the role, Costas is focused on building upon Archer's foundation while ushering in thoughtful new touches — including an exciting new culinary chapter. In the coming days, Archer will introduce a new executive chef and unveil a new era of seasonal dining at Charlie Palmer Steak and Sky & Vine® Rooftop Bar — inspired by all that makes Napa, Napa.
