The Mount Nelson Hotel Unveils Its New Presidential Suite, Bringing a New Level of Luxury to Cape To

. October 14, 2008

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, September 12, 2005. The Mount Nelson Hotel is pleased to announce the reopening of its Presidential Suite following an extensive refurbishment by renowned Cape Town designer Graham Viney. In the new suite, Viney has incorporated silky luxurious fabrics and soft hues, using white, creams and greys to complement hand-painted panels of scenic wallpaper.

The suite also features light fixtures from the 1930's with exquisite baccarat crystal drops and the original Louis style desk from the hotel's lounge when it first opened in 1899. The bed's Chinese detailing and heavy silk curtains beckon, and mercury glass lamps and a Venetian mirror complete the lavish decadence. In-room amenities include a new line of toiletries by Serenit'e Botanicals, created by the leading Cape Town spa especially for the Hotel, taking into account the property's exquisite gardens and the botanical wealth of the Western Cape.

The suite offers the same high standards of service for which the Mount Nelson (part of Orient-Express Hotels, Trains and Cruises) has become internationally renowned. Private in-room dining under the direction of Executive Chef Stephen Templeton can be arranged for up to eight guests with a dedicated wait staff to cater to guests' every need. Custom menus can be designed suited to personal tastes and preferences, all of which can be carefully paired with exclusive wines from the hotel's cellar.

Fans of the new Presidential Suite include the Ford family, who were its first guests in July 2005 and Noah Wiley of E.R. Other famous guests before the redecoration include Janet Jackson, Wesley Snipes, George Bush (senior), and Samuel Jackson.

The Mount Nelson (Cape Town's legendary "pink palace" at the foot of Table Mountain) will also soon see the complete refurbishment of its Oasis Wing, including all guest rooms and the Oasis Restaurant. The 105-year-old Mount Nelson is the Cape Town's oldest and most distinguished hotel, offering unparalleled tradition, history and sophistication. The hotel's combination of elegance, grace, grandeur and exceptional location ensures all guests have a truly memorable experience.
