. October 14, 2008

ATLANTA, GA, October 6, 2006. Hotel industry veteran Michael Hoffman, President of Turf Hotels, Inc. in Albany, NY, has been named Chairman of the Board of Directors of IAHI, the Owners' Association of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).

Hoffman's one-year term was announced during the 2006 IHG Americas Investors & Leadership Conference, held October 4-6 in Toronto. Hoffman becomes the 51-year old association's 50th chairman.

"Mike has the experience, integrity, and long-term familiarity with IHG and the IAHI Board to know how to lead our association and express the needs of its members," says David Hart, immediate past chairman of the IAHI and President and Chief Executive Officer of Hart Hotels, Inc. in Buffalo, NY. "I look forward to working with Mike as I continue to serve on the Board."

Turf Hotels currently owns and operates three hotels in upstate New York-two IHG brands and one Homewood Suites by Hilton.

Hoffman began his career in the lodging industry in 1975, when he and his family opened a 202-room Best Western hotel. Soon after the hotel's opening, Hoffman took the lead as the hotel's general manager. In 1987, he was responsible for the conversion of the hotel to the Holiday Inn brand. When opportunity presented itself in 1990, the Hoffman family purchased the "Inn at Lake George". That hotel, built in 1966, has since returned to the Holiday Inn system and is a 2006 Torchbearer award winner for quality and excellence.

"My many years in the hotel industry and appreciation for the IHG brands have prepared me to take this new role," Hoffman says. "I hope to see the IAHI expand even further globally, as we work together with IHG and focus our efforts on success for all of our members."

Hoffman's work at the IAHI has included serving on the Board since 2001. In other volunteer roles, Hoffman is on the Executive Board of the New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association and is the recipient of their Most Valuable Volunteer award in 2005. Mike also serves on the Board of LaSalle School (a school for underprivileged boys) where he received the Lasallian Benefactor award in 2003. Additionally, he is a member of the Foundation Board of the Teresian House (a senior resident home) and is an appointed member of New York State's Tourism Advisory Council and the New York State Workforce Investment Board.

Hoffman, a native of Albany, graduated from Clarkson College with a BS degree in Industrial Distribution. He has been married to Susana for 35 years, and has one daughter and two grandchildren.
